Addison Gets Look at New Job Tomorrow

City manager designee Sharon Addison will visit City Hall Thursday for a quick chat with me and meetings with City Manager John Krol and city hall staff.
Ms. Addison begins her duties on July 16 and will be in charge of city operations, budgeting and the roughly 350 employees.
Ms. Addison comes to the job after 27 years at the National Security Agency and is a native of Schenectady, NY.  She was hired after a recruitment this spring that attracted three dozen applicants who were whittled down over a series of meetings involving City Council and Mr. Krol, who was overseeing the recruitment.
Tomorrow, Ms. Addison will get an overview of pending issues and Mr. Krol's read on personalities.
Ms. Addison will also venture to the Watertown Daily Times for an editorial board meeting.

I bet you can't wait for the end of this process. From what I hear, Krol has done a very good job, and I wish Ms. Addison well.

It's really to bad that you didn't support the other members of the council in the much needed change. The last several months have proven the change was needed.

Graham missed the boat on the change but did a good job leading on recruitment and hiring Krol.
Once the decision was made he picked up the pieces and ran with it.

Jeff, you have done a wonderful job cleaning up the floor after the others pulled the trigger on this self inflicted gunshot.

Don't take it as vindication for the ill-advised termination if the new manager turns out to be an improvement. That would be the result of a combination of dumb luck and your brilliant leadership. As you know from reading the paper, city mangers for the last half a century in not just out city but the rest in the area, have been hard to find and are always about the same in performance or worse than the last.

I am sure your pool of candidates was mostly a pool of people that would have done a worse job than Mary.

Time for the mayor to take a bow.

Kudos Jeff and Council.
Personally I would hold onto other candidate resume's though as Ms. Addison seems "over-qualified". Just saying.
One other point, why do the Johnson's get face time with her before anyone else, I.e. city employees, county officials, city residents. Interesting.

Good luck. St. Lawrence County is in a mess because they hired a County Administrator who had no local government background. There are enough mistakes to be made without repeating the ones made by others.

The Johnson's have to tell her what they expect, 6:18. You can be sure after all this upheaval the council won't say a word about any problems that might arise. This woman has a free pass for at least three or four years. She will get kudo BS for anything she does. How can they admit they shouldn't have fired Correveau? Then again, Mary just looked at Gene Hayes and did nothing.

Oh no it's the return of the "I don't like Gene Hayes" guy. Hey pal do us a favor and get a life. We get it, you don't like Gene Hayes. But your repeated attacks only weaken your message.

Jeff Graham, has done an excellent job as mayor an will work and support the new city manager.City council need not show boat because Ms.Addison will look through them as what, what.
Roxanne the fair will be in town and they are always looking for help.

I'm not sure its a Gene Hayes guy. It could be more than that. The Recreation screw up was game. But who cares. 7:28, do you drive a city garbage truck or something? If so, I can understand your respect for Mr Hayes.

Is there a problem calling her "Mrs. Addison" rather than Ms?

Just wondering.

If I were city manager I would surreptitiously try to pack the council with ayes-man or two.
Did you warn her to watch out for the other Jeff and that he is a no-man?

I think Jeff has done a great job at bieng mayor since i was a kid,if he wasnt then he wouldnt of been mayor this long, now we have a new person coming into town and it makes me wonder if Watertown residents are just afraid of a person that isnt from Watertown.Sharon Addison ,to me you are very over qualified, but to have the kindness to support Watertown is an honer, and i think people need to wake up and realize she really is the best city manager we will ever get a chance at having.I will put it like this ,Watertown is going from big t.v.s to flat screens with HD,time to move on WATERTOWN!Sharon welcome to watertown and jeff keep up the good work, lets get this city more modern and lets quit holding on to no change.oh yeah can you pave West Main st.?yours truly Ben ward

I don't think she's married, Dannie, so Mrs might be inappropriate. If you're unhappy about Ms bitch at your own. It was fools like you who coined the word. We certainly don't want to risk any women wars.

I can only drive 45mph, with the rest of the traffic on west main street, can you pave it so I can drive faster?

Uh oh, I bet Mr. "I hate Gene Hayes" will have a response for you regarding W. Main St. Chance are it's Gene's fault.
