WDT:Greene, Doheny to debate

The Doheny campaign quickly accepted the debate challenge. Obviously a tactical decision already reached.
Usually front runners do the rope-a-dope with unknown and underfunded challengers.  Oh, my schedule is pretty full....or can we make that debate happen in Wanakena on a Friday night ?
If Greene wins the primary, Doheny is still on the ballot on the Indy and Conservative lines. While he wouldn't compete, it would be tough for Ms. Greene to prevail on just the B line.
If Doheny wins, he would certainly like Greene uniting the right flank, so look for him to play nice in the debate.   He could really reach out and invite her to his June 30th wedding.

Here is some question for the debate:

What have you been doing for the last two years to show that you are giving it your all in this fight to win in a district half full of freesh$% voters?

By now most conservatives have reconciled the fact that abortion is here to stay and so they work toward limiting late term abortions or abortions to select the sex of the baby or secret abortions for children without the parent's knowledge or having tax dollars pay for abortions. Are you content to work for those issues or is your goal to make abortions totally illegal and overturn Roe v Wade?

How do you plan to win in November if your opponent can paint you as a right to life wacko?

How does building a port to nowhere mesh with the ideals of the Tea Party?

Come on everyone.. Kelli Greene is in this for only one reason.. Name recognition.. Next election to take on either Ritchie or Addie.. Nothing serious about this run at all...

I understand that she will have another person present near her seat in order to assure he dosnt grope her or pat her behind.. Of course hes not in Washington and his new (employee) or wife whichever you want to call her will might be with him....

believe it when I see it. It wasn't Doheny who accepted, it was his campaign manager. Watch for their to be scheduling difficulties.

I got a kick out of this comment at the bottom of the times story:

Greene doesn't think Doheny is taking her seriously as a candidate, so Kellie went to Doheny's Court Street headquarters to challenge him to a debate personally. Unfortunately for Greene, Doheny was busy campaigning - like a real candidate - and was unable to accept her challenge in person.

Sorry Ms. Green but it is not Doheny but rather the voters that don't take you seriously who you should be concerned about. That is if you take yourself and your candidacy seriously.

Huh? Doheny accepts a debate when he doesn't have to. If there is a "upside" to this for Doheny, please tell us what it is. Maybe there is a "shrink" out there in cyberland who can explain this kind of unnecessary risk taking behavior.

10:07- I agree there is probably only downside here for doheny but I am really proud of him for agreeing to it. The people deserve to be able to make an informed decision in the primary and what better way to learn about the candidates than through a debate. I think it is great that rather than riding on the endorsements and the general assumption that he will be the republican nominee, Doheny agreed to open it up and let the best man (or woman) win. Besides, Doheny is so confident I am sure he thinks he will do so well in this debate that he will actually convince his doubters that he is the best choice. This is how politic a should be...based on an informed decision by the general public, not by a handful of party leaders.

I'm a not a shrink but I know everything. This is a calculated decision. Risk being attacked because you refuse to debate or else accept the challenge and risk saying something wrong.

Well he knows he won't say anything wrong and just to be sure he can make sure the audience is small and there is not much time to advertise his mistakes if he makes any.

If she was serious she should have shown up two years ago and challenged him to a debate back then. She had nothing to lose because she had no supporters to lose, and yet she played it safe for all this time? Brilliant.

This is not Rocky and she is not Mr. T. and in real life you don't get to challenge the champ until you qualify. Maybe after she loses the primary she can show up at the LPGA final and demand to play.
