WDT: AFL-CIO backs Owens

It's about as shocking as finding out the Pope is Catholic....Rep. Bill Owens has begun to roll out his union endorsements...It starts with the AFL CIO.....
Labor is always at the heart of the Democratic effort....But the Wisconsin race has made labor the issue and I am sure a Matt Doheny intends to make no overtures to the unions and indeed wants to win without them.....

That job Owens has, working under Nancy Pelosi's desk, would go to a union memeber no matter what. I'm not sure what they are so concerned about. The job description pretty much speaks for itself. Speak when told to, lie when Nancy tells you to, vote the way Nancy tells you to, and take breaks only when allowed to.

12:08 what major accomplishments have the Republican led House had besides producing record low approval ratings?

Anonymous said...

Lets be clear. It is just the labor boss thugs that back the democrats. half the union members themselves back republicans.

People such as Dede's husband do not represent the employees (of the business that no longer exist in their town). They represent themselves and their own agenda's.

Doheny would do well to make overtures to the union workers, just not the union thug bosses.

Are you talking about Bill Owens or Patti Ritchie.. Sounds more like a Doheny staffer than a realist..
So you on the Doheny staff think that lowly of union members. Your boss Matt must have instilled that in you.. Matt Doheny has never stood for representing union memebers so why would they not endorce a person that represents every working man and woman. We all know what you on the Doheny staff think of women and rights...
I guess I,m wrong however as your describing Patty Ritchie and Dean Skelos her boss

And neither will most teachers, nurses, laborers, electricians, operating engineers, fire aNd police workers, Federal workers at Drum, steelworkers, county and state workers, correctional workers,etc..look to pull the lever for Doheney. It just perpetuates his blatant disregard for the working man and woman.

The major accomplishment by the republican lead house has been to put a stop to the worst president the country has ever seen. that is what the Tea Party elected them to do.

Keep in mind that Obama and the democrats spent in 8 weeks what Bush spent in 8 years. Imagine how low he would have driven our credit rating if he were allowed to continue buying rims and kick a$$ speakers for Fluke and her takers? Our current congress has done as much to save our country as the soldiers that stormed the beaches of Normandy.

Errr... correction. John McHugh and those before him as well as most GOP incumbents in that era... always had UNION/LABOR backing... why?

Unions/Labor wanted to stay close to those they knew would win/retain the office... smart politics? I guess so. Kinda hurt the loyal DEMS back then who were loyal to Labor, damn. (I know from firsthand experience).

Just to be factual.

7:59 You opine on a process you have no understanding of.."Thugs" like Dede's husband takes his direction from rank and file delegates that represent approximately 25,000 people in the North Country. They meet monthly...Doheny will be one of the first truly anti-working person candidates in the North Country..Ask another union "thug" like Mike Montegelli...

Anonymous said...

Hmm… let’s see, who should I pull the lever for -- a Union ‘thug’ that represents the working class, or a ‘corporate stooge thug’ representing Wall Street? I think I’ll go with the Union ‘thug’ this time around.

Labor unions seem to be quite active on this blog today. Must be worried that they wont get their Promotions based on seniority instead of talent if Owens loses.

Not fair to say I have no understanding of the process. I was a forced member of a union in a NYS closed shop for years and my best honest guess would be that 75% of our membership did not agree to support the spendocrat democrats that our dues went toward helping to elect.

For those who don't know...a closed shop is where you have no freedom to decide if you want to be in the union. AKA thugery.

It makes sense for the thugs to support RINO McHugh because he supported cardcheck. More thugery where your choice to vote is made public so that the thugs can do what they did to the teachers that backed Scott Walker. Harass them!

Doheny created more jobs than you could imagine while Owens and his nancycare have destroyed jobs and kept most new ones from every being created.

The only thing worse than being exploited by capitalism is not being exploited by capitalism.

4:29 - please explain what jobs you feel doheny created. All he did was purchase distressed debt for pennies on the dollar as companies emerged from bankruptcy. I am not being argumentative, and I know that his campaign claims that he created jobs, but much the same way me buying shares in GE stock doesn't directly create jobs, I don't believe the role he played in these distressed investments did either. If you or the campaign can explain otherwise I am all ears.

I thinks them union suckmeisters who posted earlier have a point. There are lots of people who will vote for Owens/Pelosi, as they know where their special interests are better served. Trouble is, how do you bend-overs explain what happened just last week in Wisconsin? You started off all moist and fluttery and ended up with dried skin. That was supposed to be the same song out there as you are telling us will happen here and the states are similiar. Oh ok, we're a wee bit more corrupt. But there are parallels. What happened to you guys out there? I know what this is all about. You guys just want Owens's job. You can't think of nothing more exciting that servicing Nancy Pelosi's interests. Go for it you big boys.

“Doheny created more jobs than you could imagine while Owens and his nancycare have destroyed jobs and kept most new ones from every being created.”

No kidding, Dougheny created ‘jobs’, maybe you can enlighten us and provide a few examples.

I love how all the union thugs know just what Doheny did and how simple it was to do what Doheny did in his career. For the life of me I cannot figure out why Doheny bothered to get a law degree or took so long to retire from Wall Street. After all..."all he did was..." and it was so simple.

Meanwhile the union thugs who understand how to do what Doheny did, choose not to take that route because they are too honest to earn money that way. They are content to steal a few hundred thousand from the tax payers and our children every year, by extorting generous pensions and benefits from the government.

They draw the line at investing in distressed companies and helping them turn around and save jobs and create new ones. They prefer their guaranteed wages and defined bennny's.

No no no 9:06, I am not commenting at all about the unions, but my description of Doheny's job is accurate. I am not saying it is easy - it requires significant due diligence on the survivability of companies, but unless Doheny served on the Board if Directors of any of these distressed companies, he wasn't involved in the day to day management of the firm (and even at that, how much of an impact a board member would gave on job creation is questionable). He, or better said the companies he worked for, were passive investors. I know he has started to serve on a couple boards in the last couple years, but he didn't for nearly the first 20 years of his career. I am not belittling his accomplishments in wall street, I just don't believe it is accurate to claim he was a job creator. He was an
investor. Plain and simple.

I encourage the campaign to actually point to specific examples where Doheny created jobs while he was on Wall Street and I will humbly, but loudly, retract my statement. I think the campaign is just hoping that Wall Street is such a foreign world to most of the district 21 voters that they won't question or dispute their job creation claims.

Yawn...4:29PM, we’re still waiting for the verifiable proof that supports the claim Dougheny “created more jobs than you can imagine.” Oh well, maybe someone can call the Hotline during his interview next week and ask him that question.

Anonymous said...

I am a union member and a union endorsement means nothing to me or anyone I know.If I vote for Owens, it will be because I would rather wait two years for a true conservative than vote for a liberal republican.

Anonymous said...

There won't be any proof forthcoming 12:41pm because he doesn't have any. That’s what the Wall Street thugs like Doheney and his wannabe stooges do -- they lie.

Anonymous said...

Wow 9:38, an Obama stooge demanding evidence that one is not lying. You're quite a dufus. Yes Sir, all of Wall Street lies, while all of Washington tells the truth. Time for a bath, my stupid friend.

Anonymous said...

Ah yes, just as expected another epic failure and not a shred of evidence to substantiate your claim, err… I mean lie, that Doheny “created more jobs than you can imagine.” Instead, we get just some more extraneous name calling and deflection that one can expect from the intellectually bankrupt Doheny ass clowns.

Truth is 8:20pm, YOU were called out on YOUR own statement and YOU came up with absolutely nothing!

You might want to consider laying off the Doheny ‘bath salts’ for a while and try and salvage what little is left of your sick and twisted mind.

In the meantime I've provided a link that best describes your level of brainpower!

Enjoy…

Private citizens, even Wall St types, produce more jobs than government types. That's what you have to learn, 1:46. And in your case, name calling could never be extraneous.

Anonymous said...

4:46, unless you count the pool boy and the guy that mows the lawn 1:46 is correct… Mr. Doheny has created far less jobs than your overactive imagination could possibly imagine.

Anonymous said...

I guess the bottom line is if doheny is going to claim that he created jobs, he should be able to substantiate that claim. Simply stating that he doesn't need to because all people on wall street or in politics lie and thus so can he is a sad sad excuse. So, under that theory, people who break the law during a riot should be exonerated simoly because "everyone was doing it". Hmmm.

Second, simply not working in government doesn't make you a "job creator". That is just ridiculous.

Come on people, asking for evidence of a claim doesn't make that person an "Obama stooge" or a "union thug", it just makes him someone who wants to make an educated decision when he steps into the voting booth and not someone who simply pulls the lever for the candidate his party bosses tell him to pull.

I guess the bottom line is if Owens/Pelosi is going to claim that he/she created jobs, he should be able to substantiate that claim.

The rest of it makes no sense.

If you think it is in this country's interest to send a Nancy Pelosi toy to Congress, vote for Owens. I believe this country is in trouble and our direction needs to change. Just like the last four years, Nancy will not allow Owens to stand up, let alone think or vote on his own. He is worthless to us.
