Teachers Get a Shield from Accountability as Legislature Gets Out of Dodge

Republicans have joined the Governor in restricting access to teacher evaluation scores...That had been the last big issue swirling in Albany as session ended....When  it was all done, the "three men in a room" held a press conference to proclaim what a great job they did and what exemplary public servants they are.
All has been declared well in the Capital, and teachers can vote for GOP senators.

Making teacher evaluations public and holding teachers accountable are not even remotely connected concepts.

Those idiots that cannot get through school are parents too. Look at the comments over on JCWB and tell me those idiots would have any idea which teachers to keep around and which ones to get rid of.

But we still do have all the cops firefighters and DOT workers getting away with no accountability. Someone should fire the guy that designed and put the new traffic light in Brownville. And those Watertown firetrucks that hit school buses never cost anyone a dollar in punishment.

You knew this was how it would turn out.

Oh dear...a copper arrested for promoting contraband. I wonder if it were an average citizen that did this, if they would be let go as soon as they were charged? I wonder if they will make this whole mess go away? Maybe if she agrees to pose nude for an internet sting they can make a deal.

How about this novel idea: Allow teachers to evaluate parents.

What, cat got your tongue?

Great idea Danny. Do you want the parents to be parents 180 days per year too? Require parenting to have 180 credit ours in basket weaving and sensitivity training too?

I much as I disagree with Danny most of the time, He brings up a legitimate part of the problem. Anytime a kid gets in trouble in school, the parents, for the most part these days, stand up for their kid, instead of backing the teacher or the school. Danny and I are old enough to remember when you got in trouble in school you prayed to god your parents wouldn't find out about it, becuase the disipline at school was a cakewalk compared to the licking you got if Pop found out you were raising hell in school. As crappy as our schools are these days, child disipline still starts at home, and that doesn't happen very often in this day and time.

We always have to remind ourselves that Dannie's formal education is limited to the "screwel" field. He will always side with protecting the failed system and the people in it, as that is all he knows. When we recognize the weaknesses and failures of a watered down, unresponsive, fat and stupid educational system, Dannie takes it personally. As well he should. Education degrees are a joke. The joke is on the kids and the taxpayers.
