Obama Gets a Win.....As the Chief Justice Gives Edge on Individual Mandate

The Obama Administration is being given credit for a win in the Supreme Court as the Justices upheld the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act, although the nuances of the opinion still need to be analyzed.
I will leave it to others to determine the impact, but this certainly ramps up health insurance as a campaign issue, although the GOP belief that this issue will defeat Democrats is unknown.

Look for all of this to be a big talking point in the NNY Congressional race, with Rep. Bill Owens only a week ago reaffirming his vote for Obama Care and GOP candidate Matt Doheny likely to continue railing against the controversial legislation.

Ruling Healthcare as a tax is right on. Huge tax to the taxpayer. First thing Owens voted for in Congress.

Matt will get us out of this, lol

Chief Justice Roberts just motivated the bases in both parties to get out and vote possibly sealing both a Doheny and Obama victory

It may have been affirmed by SCOTUS but that does not mean as a small business owner that I have to like the government shoving something down my throat.

Sick of Obama caring for us. said...

What's going to hurt is the people who are not middle class and just can't afford the insurance. Then when they just can't swing it, the IRS get's to hold back tax money. Double hit to the poor working familys of America. Yes it's their fault for not voting, but still it's not going to be easy for them. Having to decide on eating or having insurance.

For months now, I could not decide if the republicans would be more popular or less popular if the healtcare bill was struck down. As you know, the healthcare bill gives lots of people free stuff and only takes away from people too old to make it to the voting booth. Unless you count all the jobs that never came to be because of it.

So I think it is a draw as far as the November election advantage goes.

But Obama has shown us that upholding the law is at the pleasure of the sitting POTUS and so with a stroke of a pen the next president could essentially repeal Obamacare unilaterally. At least for four years.

Doheny can campaign against it all he wants, but he should spend a few days at SMC and tell us what the alternative should be. He is a Wall Street man, and how far can you trust them?

I dont understand the health care issue in its entirety but this seems to be the real fact.
The Republican party in its entirety seems obsessed with the idea of the poor people in this country having anything.
For years now the Republicans have hidden behind Grover Norquists pledge on no new taxes when in reality its only a means and method to protect the rich and their assests from taxes.. Health care for everyone. What a wonderful idea. Is it going to cost>> Yup.. Whos going to pay.. We all are not just the poor people but all of us.. That seems to stick in the craw of Republicans especially in the House of Represenatives..
Our Represenative stands for all of us on this issue not just the select few that have money and the luxuary life but all of us.. I will vote for Bill Owens just on this issue alone..
On the state level our Rich Republicans are blocking the minimum wage increase.. Why??? Same reason.. Cant cut into the profit margin the rich and wealthy make....
One thing stands very clear.. People like Patty Ritchie and Matt Doheny want to represent you in government until they are elected. Then they dont need you any more and become the puppits of the wealthy Norquist group and the Wall ST BAnkers and their fortunes...
Think before voteing in NOvember...

I would like to hear one Republican idea for an American healthcare plan for all, just one!

We have heard NOTHING but crickets for the past 4 years from GOP.

The fundamental issue at hand is how much power should the federal government have over us. Unfortunately today's ruling pretty much opens the door for anything and everything. When the government can tell us that it has the power to make us buy something that some of us may not want, it will serve for years as a reason why the government can become more power and influential in our lives. This decision is the first step towards a single-payer system. Stop the democrat versus republican arguments. This boiled down to a decision about the power of our federal government to interfere in our lives. We are all losers today.

2:37 You can trust Wall St men about as far as you can trust thugs from Chicago. Who are you kidding?

1:36 the people who will get money held back by the IRS were too stupid to understand this issue in the first place. They think they are getting someting for free. Watch the stock market tomorrow. Fun. We now have a dictatership. Germany, 1937.

anyone who thinks gov't capable of supervising health care has never been in a DMV office.

prediction: all the money taken from taxpayers under the guise of health care will be handed over to the Pentagon as when Social Security was looted during the Viet Nam War.

there will be nothing but more debt disguised as IOUs.

oh, it's time to apologize to the "alarmists" who two years ago were questioning the planned hire of @15,000 more IRS personnel & the IRS weapons purchase.

everyone in Amerika is now a serf.

Whether you need "Obama-care" or not, or if you have a good plan with your office or employer or self, or not, matters not. It will benefit millions of Americans w/o care, those who work and have low-incomes, seniors, kids, those with pre-existing conditions, dependents
under 26 and away at school on parents policy, et al.

It is good for the country = that's the deal.

Yes let's just hear one alternative idea from the Republicans - including Matt BWI- on health care or anything else for that matter. Go ahead, give me one - I double dog dare you.

You know why Obamacare charge tax on tanning sessions but not on ribs? Because ain't no black folk need to buy no tanning sessions.

But which one kills more people?

3:21 You are a dumbass and a partisan. But I repeat myself. The Elephants were excluded from the entire healthcare debate. Were you drunk during those months. All kinds of ideas were discussed, but never admitted to the the real proposal. Things like tort reform and allowing policies to be sold over state lines, something that is highly resticted as things stand now. Please be stupid somewhere else. If you're not playing dumb, then I'm sorry for you.

I hear the Republican’s are already working on a new plan. It’s called The Hurry-Up And Die Already Act.

Breaking: Conservatives want to leave the country but they can't find a wealthy western industrialized nation without universal health care.....

Anonymous said...

You will now get what you deserve. Unfortunately, the kids will get it worse than you will. The bums will get it for free. Yippie.

12:08 And now our health care will be dumbed down to the international level. What wealthy western industrialized nation are you speaking of? Greece, Spain, Britain, France? They are all in a bigger mess than we are and we seem intent on following them down the sewer. Tell your kids I'm enjoying the use of their future. I just love the FreeStuff they will be paying for. Or at least attempting to.

I believe your description better fits the Obamacare Act. I know doctors who are retiring because they can't bear the thought of telling patients they have known for years, that they can no longer treat them due to the new government rules

I think we should have healthcare for all Americans. I would like to hear Mr. Doheny's plan. He is so against this. I really don't think he has an alternative plan. He could care less if middle class citizens can get healthcare.

3:15 says "the republican party in its entirity seems obsessed with the idea of poor people having anything".

Youv'e only got it part right. he republican party is obssessed with the idea of the poor people getting off their phat lazy azzes and earning their own wealth and not stealing it form those who did put in the effort to earn it.

The Supreme Court ruling yesterday transforms the citizens of the United States of American into SUBJECTS of the government of the United States of America with whom the government may now do with as they please without recourse for those subjects. This ruling basically says that we are no longer a Republic, no longer a free people, but SUBJECTS of the government. June 28th 2012 will forever be known as the day the Constitutional Republic died and the facist democracy was born. Don't believe me? Look up the definition of facism.

Yeah Dan, but as a Republican I don’t care about the millions of ‘working’ Americans who are unable to afford healthcare. I only care about defeating that fascist, commie, Nazi dictator Obama. Besides, it’s probably their fault and they probably deserve it anyways.

Anonymous said...

When you first get a job plan on saving something from the very first pay check. If you can't afford it you can't have it. You must plan for your future. If not then you will like the government taking care of your every aspect of your existence. Obama is heading in that direction with his, "We need to be in this together" crap. It is socialism right in your face. We need to get rid of this guy who was educated in Indonesia!

As a staunch Reagan conservative, I am with you 7:41AM…especially the part about “poor people getting off their phat lazy azzes…”

If only we could find a way to reduce the surplus population.

Anon: 2:32 - you are sick, patently sick.

Danny, are you sure 2:32 isn't one of your commie friends trying to make a point sarcastically but epically failing?

We need to stick together and hate Romney but but praise him for hi health plan that ours is based on. I mean the first page of the 2700 pages is based on it anyway.

10;27 please don’t speak for me. I meant what I said and I don’t make any apologies for it.

I don't think Dannie's reading comprehension served him well this time. You know them education classes aren't all they're cracked up to be. He bit one of his own.
