The Doheny for Congress campaign was pleased with their margin of victory in Tuesday's primary with the 71-29 margin edging out the 70-30 margin enjoyed by GOP Rep. Richard Hanna in the adjacent district based in Utica.
After the fact, candidate Doheny said a showing in the 50s would have been a problem in terms of image but the larger margin and the early primary date leaves him well poised to take on Rep. Bill Owens.
Hours after his win, Mr. Doheny took off for a visit to other parts of the district. A brief victory lap before taking three days off to get married Saturday in ceremony in Alexandria Bay.

Who are these 3000 or so idiots that voted for that financial train wreck? I knew everyone in 'swago was related but did but that obligate them to vote for Greene?
Seems maybe the republicans are learning a thing or two. Dis-satisfaction with Bush 1 caused the GOP to split the vote and got us 8 years of the Clintons. A split vote over dis-satisfaction with Dee-Dee got us a term of the Pelosi clone, Owens.
As much as I agree that the critisism of Bush 1 and Dee-Dee were spot on, the end results did far more damage to this country than stickng with the ones who brought us to the dance would have done.
Hopefully, Doheny can unseat the Pelosi clone and have his chance. If he screws it up, that leaves it wide open for Kellie Green the next time around. If she's still around by then. I'm still a bit leery of why she would move from Arizona back to a liberal high tax craphole like N.Y.
Bush 1 or Bush 2?
Voting Dede out on her a$$ didn't really hurt as much as voting her in would have. Truth be told nancycare was going to pass without Owens. The fact that he voted for it anyway just shows how dumb he is and how extremist he is.
But dede would have been like cooking a lobster by bring us to a boil slowly. As a puppet for her communist husband with cardcheck and support for national healthcare, she would have done more everlasting damage and not awoken the Tea Party as much.
Enjoy the moment Doheny lovers - it's all you will have.
I am a republican and am quite dissatisfied with the choices this year. I agree, greene was a train wreck and her "campaign" was a joke. Doheny is a hard worker but I simply cannot get behind his candidacy - I don't want to beat a dead horse, but character does matter. I don't believe the man has any integrity and the last thing I want is for him to put all that hard working energy into trying to cover up dishonesty when in office. I will begrudgingly vote for Owens this year with the hope that a fresh republican with a good work ethic, good ideas, AND strong character runs against him in 2014. If Doheny wins this year he will be the republican incumbent in 2014 and thus any hope if getting the kind of republican leader I think we deserve will have to wait until the first election after he is ousted, which, at best, will be 2016. That is a loooonnnngggg way away. (sigh)
Maybe Barclay in 2014? Or someone completely off the radar screen today would probably be even better. I am just so disappointed in the choices this year. Again...
Hey! I am not a Doheny lover...
I am an Owens hater.
Get it right!
11:38 is a big fat liar. If Owens wins a second term then he is in permanently. We cannot take that chance. Especially for piousness over the smooch or the BWI.
