Rep. Bill Owen's, like anyone running for office, has to have a narrative...for himself and his opponents.
In an interview yesterday on Capital Tonight, Mr. Owens gave a hint of his strategy, referring to himself as a "moderate" and a "centrist" and suggesting that next to jobs, the public's top concern is "why can't you guys in DC get along "
Mr. Owens specifically sidestepped the deficit and seems to be anxious to use his demeanor and Congressional look to make his case.
By comparison, the incumbent will surely hope to suggest his opponent is too strident...too unable to get along...and not a centrist.
Of course the flip side for Mr. Owens is to be seen as too willing to go along and not standing for anything. Just a guy going along to get along.
Time will tell.

Funny enough, he actually referred to himself as a "centerist."
Owens will have it easy once the voters see Doheny's new campaign slogan of: NO BILLIONAIRE LEFT BEHIND.
Butt with Owens' slogan of "an extra trillion dollar deficit stuck in the children's behinds every year" he might have a harder time than you think he will.
He did only take a moderate amount of free trips to china and Canada. And he was only speeding a moderate 51% over the speed limit at 84 MPH in a 55.
And Obamacare only takes a moderate trillion dollars away from old people to pay for moderately free birth control for the able bodied flukes of this world.
Your choices are simple..
You can cast a vote for Obama and Owens the people for the people
You can cast your vote for Romeny and Doheny.. Corporate millionaires both for Wall St and making the poor poorer..
You can vote for Owens and get pride integrity and character You get a family man with family values
You can vote for Doheny for whatever it is he stands for.A man getting married for appearance with the hopes of gaining votes. A man with a maritial agreement to sign. A man with Wall St at heart.A man with little integrity or character and certainly no values..
To me the choice is pretty simple. Isnt it funny how both Republican canidates have similar backgrounds on Wall St..
Owens doesn't seem like a bad guy. He'd be welcome at my house or on my boat anytime. But he fails to recognize the need to change government. We cannot continue down this road to economic ruin. He has to quit bending over for his boss, Nancy Pelosi and become a man. He needs to think for himself. He needs to think as an American and not a Democrat. I don't know if Doheny is that much better or not. But I do know he is not under Nancy's desk. I do know he will work towards balanced budgets. Owens will continue to lie.
Isn't it funny that both the president and Owens are vastly similar as well? A couple of hack lawyers who insist on robbing our children to give money out to political allies in their crony capitalism utopia. It's time to wake up folks. It's not about the rich and the poor. Tax the millionaires more and what will you get? More money for Owens and Obama to pee away at the expense of our children. Time to get real and live within our means. Medicare is going broke, cut it! Social Security is going broke, cut it! The government id going broke, cut it!
For a simple choice you sure drone on and on.
Lets make it simpler:
Wall Street got a few hundred billion in bail outs, which were actually loans to be paid back.
But Owens voted for the medical industrial complex to get a trillion dollar bailout every single year...year after year...until our country collapses financially.
When that happens you will be begging for Doheny type capitalist pigs to come back and make the country into the richest in the world again...with the richest citizens in the world again.
Has everyone suddenly stopped remembering John McHugh, "Mr. Centerist/Moderate/Indy Thinker himself who ever "went along to get along?"
Right...
• Where you sit is where you stand.
• Fall for anything and stand for nothing.
Every cliché in the books is apropos this cycle ... so, line 'em all up, and hang on tight.
The only difference I see between Owens and Doheny is that Owens has higher moral standards. The only true conservative in the race is Kellie Greene
Will Matt be able to stay in office and still deliver the FREE SH_T we like in the North Country?
Or as 5:03 suggests, are we ever going to grow up and realize that someone, namely our kids, gets to pay for our FreeStuff.
Today, Nancy Pelosi announced her support for Charles Rangel for Congress. Owens was told to keep nodding his head. All reports are that he did so. So much for an open and clean Congress, which I thought was what we were promised. No break yet, Billy. I'll tell you when to endorse my buddy, Charlie.
Is that the guy that was in charge of writing our tax laws? the guy that did not know he should pay income tax on the rent money he received? Something even the drive though workers at Mc-Liberty or Mc-H&R Block would know.
After all...who would know you have to pay taxes on money?
