Legislators will make $100,000 a year - NYPOST.com

State legislators...at least the ones from up here....do a lot of work and it takes of lot to get elected...I have no problem with them making as much an any number of other people at the State Office Building.
I know we'll get the usual responses on this, but so what ?  I would cut out the lulus and impose a defined contribution pension plan on the lawmakers...but beyond that, they perform an essential function in a representitive republic.
Besides, you should beware the pols who brag about how little they want to work for...Usually you get what you pay for.

It is a part time legislator. They dont even deserve what they are getting now. Patty & her boys deserve a pay cut. How about the equivalent to minimum wage?

I would pay Patty plate a million a year if she would agree to stop proposing new laws and agree to cut SUNY and Tug Hill.

But as is I have to vote for her until a real republican comes around. But there are not any real republicans which gives Addie a free pass for the next election.

You are correct Mayor, you get what you pay for in life; including governance.

At 100k, they are not getting rich. Their hourly rate is probably less than that of many veteran public school teachers. Plus they have the cost of a second residence in Albany

It use to be that NY maintained the highest or second highest paid legislature in the nation. I don't know where they rank now, but I doubt that they've fallen too far from the top.

New York has The 3 rd highest paid legislature in the country and the LEAST effective ! Other states realize that the work is PART TIME at best and the pay is in accordance with the effort .

Time for reality to set in . 100 K a yr plus bennies , lulus and excessive staff budgets and needless almost ludicrous printing, postage , advertising and promotional expenditures to tell us what we can readily find out ourselves is not only outrageous but wasteful FOR PART TIME employees .

And lets not forget this : THEY ARE NOT IN THE ROOM with the 3 GUYS when They make the deals .

An hourly comparison of wages between legislators and public school teachers would be an very interesting evaluation. I'm not sure how that would come out. How would you measure it? Remember, the teachers do a lot of work while drunk in Cancun. And the legislators are no slouches either. Think of the gym and diet time a Keeiersten must put in to keep that buffed bathin' suit body. And The Schmuck, he probably has to watch. That's work, isn't it? And we know what Owens does. Nancy is a nice girl but that IS work. This would be a very tough contest. I'm kinda votin for the teachers. If you factor in the time they are thinking about kids, cause it is about the children, they gotta win. Teachers. I vote teachers make less per hour, thus work more. Just a guess. What do YOU think? And remember. You can say what you want. All the teachers are gone for the next couple months. You know, just because the just came off winter, spring, spring, testing, and other weeks off, they're due for a couple month vaca. Anything for the children. Maybe I need to change my vote.

They are asking for a raise Dan because they didn't score extra cash by suing the watertown school district.
