Jerry Seinfeld Not in Favor of Soda Ban, Prefers ‘Early Death’ -- Grub Street New York

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld doesn't buy into Mayor Bloomberg's proposed ban on sugary sodas.....
Jerry, whom I met at the Golden Lion in Watertown back in the 70s, says he enjoyed full sugar Coke as a child along with Orange Crush and Dr. Pepper....I drank a lot of Crush too....Remember Nehi Soda ?
Jerry says sugary soda will contribute to early death and will thin the population, something he says he favors.

The only thing I know of Nehi soda is from watching M*A*S*H.

There is the rub...sugar does not kill you! High cholesterol does not kill you! You know what kills? Stress! the kind you get from trying and succeeding at becoming a billionaire. The kind you get from being a mayor for more terms than you ought to. And the kind you get from staying up worrying about what rules and restrictions you will put on peoples freedoms in the name of their own good.

How did you happen to meet him there? Was he doing a stand-up circuit, or just passing through. Interesting, nonetheless.

Orange Crush was, and still is, my favorite soft drink.

Anyone who is old enough to remember the Mission and Royal Palm brand sodas sure wouldn't call this overcarbonated throat burning crap we have today "good" by any stretch of the imagination. To any of you who are too young to have tasted either one of these brands, you have my sympathy.
