In a tome posted today to District 21 residents, Matt Doheny exclaims, "you can't love jobs and hate the job creators."
Well, that's true, but for too long in NY the job generators have been public enemy number one. The takers have succesfully villified the makers.
It will be interesting to see if Mr. Doheny's free market manifesto sells in the land of free sh--".
With cameras on poles, nary a job without a tax break, everybody looking for subsidy and not-for-profits the number one growth industry, I think Matt will have trouble selling his message.
We will find out if he can make the case when he appears on America's Favorite Noontime Talk Show on June 20.

We are not free marketeers we are social safety free marketeers. That means we don't mind paying for grandma's healthcare but we don't want to pay for Fluke's free birth control.
We don't want the government in the student loan business as the result of TAP and PELL and government loans has made the cost of a college education astronomical.
This election is about how bad Nancycare sucks and how bad Owens is for voting for it.
The country has changed. Getting stuff from other people has become the norm, even the goal, of most. And if one doesn't have stuff, its now the fault of someone or something else. That is why we have president Obama. That is why we have the FreeStuff machine. You say Doheny or anyone like him will have trouble selling an alternative. You're probably right. But we are at a turning point in this country. We can go down this current road to ruin, or we can make different choices. I'm old enough to be able to live with it either way. I've lived my life without spy cameras and gigantic government. The kids don't seem to care and the bums care about nothing.
I was watching some of the run up to the Queen of England's celebration in Britain. They're going through the same thing. They are asking themselves what happened to their country. They opened their borders and are now a welfare state. Not so Great anymore. And money for spy cameras everywhere.
Well then let's end ALL handouts, to oil companies, farmers, social services, tax-free pensions, no more PILOTs, and let the chips fall where they may. Let's have a real depression, and another real civil war over wealth redistribution and jobs.

What's wrong with Doheny anyway? I was in Canton at the Dairy Princess parade Saturday by the Park across from Silas Wright House. A young boy was running after Doheny because the kid really wanted one of those footballs. Doheny thrust it at the boy and then literally pushed him away. Maybe Doheny is only interested in people old enough to vote. Anyone who acts like that towards a child has something dramatically wrong with them. Doheny just lost my family's vote!

Danny - are you saying we are not the land of giveaways. From alcohol makers at the River (who will "create" two jobs) to teachers, farmers, big business and the worst offenders (because of the shear magnitude of numbers accepting the free stuff)the welfare recipients. They all want to cut spending but noone wants to stop accepting. It is a slippery slope. we will never be able to get rid of the freebies

Especially one who already has a record of being rude (to law enforcement when he was charged with BWI). Politicians aren't perfect. Whatever pedestal you have placed Doheny on you might want to try to remember, he is just a regular guy. He was out in the rain and might have been tired, frustrated or just anxious to get inside and forgot for a second that people were watching. Rude? Of course. Forgivable? I think so. I didn't understand 1:18's comment...is he/she saying teachers are bad? I always considered that to be an admirable and underpaid job. But that poster made it sound like teachers were one step aware from flat out criminals. What am I missing?

His first vote was to vote for a stupid healthcare bill called The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. It made health care even more unfordable by promising too much free stuff.

Fair point, 2:14, but you never know, if Greene can get her campaign in order maybe she can pull off a rerun of the special election in 2009 and eliminate the viability of the "chosen" republican (the whole Dede scandal seems like a million years ago). It's doubtful, I know, I just hate the fact that Doheny appears to be the only option away from Owens. Can't we do any better??? It seems like we would be trading one set of problems for another.
