Pete's is a staple for the political chattering class and a popular Italian restaurant dating back to 1932 when Tommy's dad, Pete, opened on Factory Street at the close of Prohibition. Monday pasta night is a local tradition.
Mr. Puccia is a well known foodmeister and is currently running the kitchen at the nearby Italian American Club. He previously was chef at Ives Hill Country Club.
Tom tells me all the details and paperwork are still to be signed but the agreement is a lease with option to buy.
Yours Truly at Pete's With City Judge Palermo & Her Husband
The customers and staff were aflutter upon learning of the news. One Council member said Mr. Puccia will bring a greater range of salad dressings. Others were worried their favorite seats will be lost as new customers and followers of Mr. Puccia flock to Pete'sI think it's a great move, as Mr. Puccia is a quality guy and will build on a long tradition.
The remaining question....will Ralphie Marzano still occupy the end seat at the bar ?

Post again once the new owner takes over, I might give Pete's another try. Last time I was the the service was horrible, and the food worse.
Chef Puccia is awesome. He's catering for my wedding in a few weeks the Italian American Club. && I hope that people are honestly really not complaining about losing "their seats" there. The more people that go te better the business will be. I haven't ate at Pete's in years because of all the negative reviews and bad personal expirence there (food wise). I'm deffinately going to try it after Puccia takes over. I can't wait to see what changes he makes with the place. :)
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Those chairs at the bar should have name tags attached to them. And maybe a few at a couple of the tables, too.
My sincere hope is that nothing changes too drastically, and should the deal go through, good luck to the new owner.
Either way, I hope Tom and the crew continue to hang around.
There you go thinking you are a news man again.
Let the professtionals cover this one in a month or two.
You see the Mayor is a 'former' Newsman, but once a newsman, always a newsman. The MSM does not have the story, and I hope you are using the term 'professionals' in a tounge and cheek way...You call running two day old stories, and leading newscasts with the WERATHER every other day professional???!! Get a grip. BTW-Puccia is an OK cook, he's no chef.
This is fabulous...Iet the Italian tradition continue....Geoff, a local chef who loves to cook and appreciates his patrons, will bring Petes to the next level. As the Arsenal Strip continues to be over taken by franchised restaurants let's patronize the local people who keep the home town atmosphere alive. Congratulations Geoff and thank you Tommy ........
Gut house or things will never change!!! Old habits die slow!!

I find the food to be great along with the help.
If you don't like pete's then go to Burger King, because that's your speed.

This is great news! I know I'm not alone when I say I've been waiting for Chef Geoff Puccia to get his own place where he can allow his creative juices to flow. I will definitely be there when his doors open. It is encouraging to see family owned businesses continue in Watertown. Best of luck, Geoff.
nice written
I haven't been to Pete's, but I don't see this as newsworthy only because I have yet to find a local non-chain restaurant that has good food. I am really getting tired of being told "oh, you should go here, they have really good food". Then being severely dissapointed by the food and usually the service too. The service up here is laughable. I don't know if it's because of the hourly wage that servers make here, or they just really don't care about giving good service. Even at the chain restaurants.
I guess I'll wait and see, but seeing as there's 1000 Italian restaurants in and around this area all offering the exact same items I just see this being another one in the pack of lousy Watertown food.. I'll stick with chain restaurants until I'm I hear differently from someone I trust who knows good food. By that I mean at least someone who doesn't think Taco Bell is real Mexican food.
Anonymous, if the chains are your mainstay, stay there. I don't believe any of the many great local restaurants are dependent upon your uneducated palate.
Congrats Tommy and Lynn, good luck Geoff, and Cabrina we hope you and your desserts stay! YUM!!!
I remember going to Pete's on factory street when I lived in Watertown. I thought the food was great. I am retired and living in Malaysia now and the Italian food here sucks. I wish we had Pete;s food here. Good luck to all.
