At least a year after deciding it wanted to keep the former aviary at Thompson Park, City Council will get a look at final plans for the 30 year old structure which is slated for conversion for a learning center.
Council tonight will also hear an update on whether a hockey team will play at the Arena this coming winter.
Finally, Council will have a budget review session. In essence, Council has to decide on the tax rate as the numbers are close enough that a change in revenue assumptions could be used to zero out the levy increase.

...were I a taxpayer, I would attend your Council meeting tonight to lay out the reasons why the City should do everything possible to encourage the Privateers to come to Watertown. I have seen the enthusiasm that they have generated here along the river...and that would increase ten-fold by having the city and Ft. Drum close by. They are a great organization, with good solid leadership. A team from Aquasazne (spelling, questionable) has given the league a black eye. I am sure this will be dealt with by league management. I look forward to seeing the Privateers at the Duffy Dome.
The Privateers are Sketchy with a capitol S.
Great Organization? Please.

I hope the local youth organizations don't take a back seat to a pro hockey team. It doesn't seem like there's enough ice time available with only 1 sheet of ice as it is now.
Anything less than an American league hockey team is of Zero interest to me.
