Banning free mailing for elected officials sounds good.. Free mailing (franking) is self serving, but it also allows the electeds to stay in touch with voters...That's the prerogative of winning. Congressional hopeful Matt Doheny wants it banned.
Senator Ritchie does all sorts of mailings and surveys...They all do...Both parties...
This could be a canary in the coal mine issue to point out government waste...or it could be a bullsh-- issue that makes little difference.
The problem with wanting to cut spending is it puts you at odds with the prevailing view, which is free sh-- is good.
I will say, you can't oppose franking and be in favor of I-98....Of course, Bill Owens favors both franking and I-98, so he can't claim the moral high ground either.
Watertown Daily Times | Doheny: End 'franking'

I don't know if many people know the term "Franking", but they do know the gratuitous mailings come as campaign mailings but thinly disguised as something else.
re: "Doheny: End franking"
End franking? Seriously? This is a worthwhile subject to base a campaign upon? Who is in charge of this campaign? A team of chimpanzees?
How about: (a) End the TSA (b) End the Dept of HomeLand Security (c) End the planned use of drone surveillance in the USA (d) End the "war on drugs" (e) End the multiple wars against The Others who wear funny hats (f) End the Executive claims to war powers (g) End kidnapping, rendition, torture, & murder as accepted parts of Uncle Sam's bag of tricks (h) End protecting those who have committed these acts (i) End ObamaCare before it gets established (j) End the NDAA (k) End the IRS (l) Close every military base outside of the US (m) End the power of the Pentagon over American society (n) End the militarization of police forces (o) End Gitmo & every other secret prison (p) End the NSA project in Utah (q) End the CIA (r) In fact, end 80% of the 'alphabet agencies' in DC (s) start 'buying-out' Federal pensioners (t) End the "too big to fail" banks that are now even bigger (u) End ignoring the criminality of the "too big to fail" bankers (v)the list is getting long & too easily expanded.
The Guardian reports "Georgia opens first jail devoted to US veterans" ...
... and Doheny wants to talk about Franking! snort. Yeah, that's the winning ticket.
RINOs have such a dreadful smell.
Why would Mr. Owens need to claim any “moral high ground” when he already has it by default?
Moral highground... Really.. GOP and DEmocrats both know Owens report card has an A on it while the other canidate is failing with an F..
Morality and integrity and common sense is the qualities that Mr Doheny lack .. See there is some things his money cant buy....
Morality is not the right word if the person being immoral is too dumb to know he is being immoral. For instance, did Owens know that driving 84 mph on a ribbony stretch of NYS RT 3 could likely kill someone? Not just a one in a billion chance but a real big chance. Like if he did that just 60 times then he would likely kill someone.
Does he know that his socialist Nancycare robs money from grandma's medicare in order to give free stuff to able bodied young Americans?
Does he know that spending too much money on too much free stuff will collapse our country? Is he aware of the history of Socialism and Communism and Despotism and Totalitarianism that he keeps marching us toward?
I don't think he understand the morality of his poor decisions because he is not smart enough to know what he is doing. Sure he made millions as a lawyer but it was all boilerplate law that anyone could do. He needs to read something about world history.
"Frankly" I don't give a damn.
2:50 seems awfully full of himself. 'Boilerplate law that anyone could do'? Really? Could you do it Mr. Anon 2:50? Where did you get your law degree? You talk about smart but then you talk about Communism? What decade are you in anyway? Just keep spewing your nonsensical Fox/Rush crap and then cry when Obama is re-elected. BTW I give you credit for not using the phrase 'spiking the ball' in your post, in full violation of your Hannity/Rush talking points code.
I don't have a law degree because when I graduated high school, there was no one going to ship me off to Vietnam so I didn't have to do anything avoid that like Owens had to do.
You don't need a law degree to know more about business than Owens does. After all...he voted for Nancycare and that is the dumbest business move anyone can imagine. Of course his excuse was, "I know the bill sucked but the Republicans wouldn't negotiate, so I voted for it anyway".
Vietnam. Isn't that the reason Gingrich and Cheney opted for college too? ..."You don't need a law degree to know more about business than Owens does"... I'd like to compare his 1040 to yours. You must be a north country version of Donald Trump!
No I don't think Gingrich and Cheney were quite the same as Owens. Bush Junior would be similar because he enlisted to avoid the draft and did so in a manner to avoid combat.
I never went bankrupt nor have I cheated creditors, so no, I am not much like Trump.
You would not like to compare my 1040 to Owens. But if you could stomach it, you would be more interested in the attached schedules. I am no accountant, but I have never met an accountant or a tax attorney for that matter, who knows their way around section 355 and 368 of the internal revenue code better than I do.
What a blowhard. Like if you were that successful you would be on this blog. I bet you are big on Craigslist too.
You are the one that tried to make my income an issue here. I didn't bring it up...you did.
And you are pathetic for using the word successful to describe a high income. It doesn't make me any more successful than anyone else does what they want with their life.
