The best part of this story is the graf way down in the story about someone asking Democratic Senate candidate Amy Tressider ifs she was not quailfied to run due to her status as a stay at home mom.
Which reporter asked that question ?
Raising five children and managing a household seems like a job to me. Of course, I have had to answer lots of dumb questions over the years. Last year, having zero children was billed as a disqualifier in some circles. And of course there is the 'can a bar owner be a mayor ?' slam.
People will always be judged by a variety of criteria and the list is as long as the list of voters.
Actually, one of the reasons more people don't run for office is that if you have a regular nine to five job, you do not have the option of becoming what is necessary to win and that is being a full time candidate.
Actually raising five children as a stay at home mom puts Ms. Tressider on a par with Ann Romney.

I am in favor of the one issue she brought up of raising the sales tax rate. But I would never vote for a democrat as long as we have the party run by liberal extremists such as Silver.
That makes perfect sense. In Donkey terms, she's a worthless woman. I can't see any progressive voting for one of them.
Raise the sales tax for sure. I can regulate that by simply not spending. Any other tax is not in my control.
Except I bet Ms. Tresidder didn't have a nanny, and an entire staff of servants to raise the kids and run the house for her like Ms. Romney. And not for nothing - Ms. Tresidder is an elected county legislator, responsible for budgets, lawmaking, and helping to run Oswego County. Patty plate never cast a vote or legislated anything in her life till she fell into the State Senate.
You’re absolutely right 8:28pm, but don’t expect any kind of rational discourse from partisan zombie hacks like 2:01pm. His brain has been thoroughly drenched in elephant piss.
10:04PM hit the nail on the head. And don't expect any rational discourse from Patty R. Her 'handlers' wouldn't let her say anything in the last election so expect more of the same this time around. Wake up people! She is a hack of the worst kind. Totally controlled by the leader of the Senate - who last time I looked is from downstate - unless they moved Long Island up here and it's now one of the Thousand Islands.
I am sure you two non partisans will point us to the source where you learned that the Romneys had a nanny and an entire staff of servants. Anytime during their lives would be a good start. It doesn't even have to be back when they were young parents. Even showing that they used a daycare like many parents do today would be a good start.
I'll be waiting here...forever.
8:39am, you’re kidding right? Seriously, I had to read your comment two or three times. Have you ever heard of Google?
I'm a Democrat. And I just love to bend over for party line crap. I hate Elephant money, like Romney, but I love Donkey money, like Johnny Kerry and Hooollleeeywood. And I am smart enough to know that all vaginas that work in the home and take care of kids are worthless. Why, because some lady from the White House told me. And I heard it on TV. Now if I was smart I would wish it hadn't been said. But now I'm left defending a double standard. Oooooo. I get such headaches.
Of course I have heard of Google.
Google is what I used to direct me to the story about the Romney's son who has categorically stated the Romney's did not have a nanny or a mommy helper.
No one is surprised that you had to read my comment or any other comment two or three times.
Now please quit delaying and deflecting and instead point us to that source where you learned the Romney's had an entire staff of servants or a nanny.
