WDT: Paper Cautions About Secrecy

The choice of Sharon Addison as city manager involved only the City Council and current manager John Krol.  With little knowledge of her other than what was presented at a press conference and in a resume, the local paper is taking a cautious approach to her pending arrival, using its initial editorial response to caution against too many secrets.

Because Ms. Addison comes from a career in the National Security Agency, the Times opines that the tenor of that agency need not carry over to City Hall.
It's not like you are going to have to have a retina scan to get to the third floor.
She will do a great job and despite whatever criticisms folks have of the City Council, they worked in a diligent and collegial manner on this appointment.

Maybe the Times would like to open up their own records to the public, involving new-hires, recruitment and applicants since January?

If she worked in this administration, keeping secrets wasn't the most important thing in her life.

Dumb comment 7:42AM it's not your tax dollars at the Times.

Last I checked the Times is a private company, not supported by our tax dollars.

Better check again 1:35. The WDT's is the legal official newspaper for virtually everything in the north county. That means the government requires that we must procure their services in order to conduct both private and government business.

How about they stay private and we end them as the official newspaper?

The Times is just concerned because they didn't controll the firing or hiring of the city manager, loosing control

OK 3:20, Let me get this staight. Say the city buys its phone service from Creg Systems. By your logic we are all entitled to know the new hires/fires etc at Creg? Interesting.

...if they passed a law requiring us to buy our phone system from Creg Systems then...

You don't think the paper could stay in business selling papers do you. They make all their money off the mandatory legal notice fees.

But I don't feel we had a right to know who the city manager applicants were or be part of the process in the first place.

Never mind the retina scan I always thought it was odd anyone with a Concealed Weapons permit could walk through the building.
