WDT: Obamacare to be the Issue Used on Owens

With commercials set to begin ripping Rep. Bill Owens for his vote in favor of Obamacare, it's clear the GOP and its surrogates plan on making the health care makeover the centerpiece of their 2012 effort.
NNY challenger Matt Doheny is also banking on the Supreme Court striking down all or part of the law.
It's clear that Obamacare, once implemented, would through the marketplace create a single payer system. The fine for employers to not cover workers is far less than the cost of covering, thus creating the economic incentive for employees and employers to abandon their current arrangements.
The dilemma for the GOP is to explain their points in a manner that makes sense and persuades average people that the new health system is too expensive and not in their best interest.
That won't happen in 30 second spots featuring fuzzy, slow motion black and white images of Mr. Owens and former Speaker Pelosi. Doheny says villification of Ms. Pelosi is no longer a tactic.
I think the old Ross Perot flip chart style would work, but that's not what the consultants and handlers want to produce.
Since many people support what they see as the pluses of Obamacare (like pre-existing condition coverage) and since much of the law doesn't kick in til 2014, it's a confusing issue that is hard to explain in the usual formats.

The Doheny team should have gotten their own operative like the democrats did with Middle class Mikey from downstate, to try to split the vote off from Owens.

Owens is weak on environment and weak on gun laws and weak on gay marriage AKA gay rights. But if they tried to exploit the gun law thing they better target only a certain audience or else they might win Owens some votes.

It is not too late to do a PAC and run pro Hassig advertisements.

Owens must have seen it coming. He was asked at the time of the vote by many people not to vote yes. But he did. At the time he stated he felt it was for the better of the people as a whole, not just a few. Is he wrong? Maybe? While it would be great for everyone to have insurance, it's not so great for our grandkid's kids to still be paying for it in the year what-ever. More thought had to go into who pays and why, before jumping in.

I'm voting for Ross Perot. Let's look under the hood.
Doheny isn't sincere in my book, and Owens is too much of a conciliatory type.
How about an ass-kicker running one of these days? Voting against the franking privilege is so peripheral it isn't even funny.

Single-payer, based on the Medicare model/concept would:

1. Take the politics out our doctor's office.

2. Make it easier, efficient, and effective - the way any program should be.

3. If handled properly, serve everyone in a very cost-effective manner.

Doctors would love it, too, but the insurance giants would not.

945- too bad you people don't argue the costs of the Bush-Cheney wars that way. Your 4th gen children will still be paying.

Sooo... what's the Republican plan again? Anyone?

Dannie, single payer would
1) take all personal choice from our health care decisions.
2) bankrupt the country and
3) inject politics into every level of health care policy making.
You should also admit that you and yours lied when you forced through the unconstitutional farce we are now attempting to flush. Remember Dannie, folks like you said the same thing you are saying now, that it would SAVE money. It is now clear that it will do no such thing. I realize you are a parisan idiot and are required to repeat what you are told, but even your own speachwriters admit they lied. And now you want us to believe your stories about the future? In all the debates I have ever heard you speak about, you have never told the truth about anything. You only speak Donkey. That's all that matters to you. Either way it goes, we all know YOUR healthcare will always be free. It makes lying more convenient.

Whatever the insurance companies tell them to do 7:33.

"Whatever the insurance companies tell them to do 7:33."

BINGO!!

That would explain why insurance company stocks tanked when Obama care passed. Oh no...wait...come to think of it...they all shot up after it passed.
BINGO!

I never saw any reason to have the war. It's not even about oil. It was about (in my mind) making several people in America's governmnet real rich. Favors were asked. Favors were answered. There are companys that make money off war. The Government helped them get rich. Yes the 4th generation of kids get to pay. Is that what you wanted to hear. You are not dealing with a bunch of heads in the sand kinds of people.

Crazy Ray do you ever think a thought without posting it?
There were dozens of reason for the wars and they all added up to getting a lot of support for it. the top reason being the weapons of mass destruction that people like the NYTimes kept telling us about. Sure there was a lot of money involved...for places like France and the oil for food kickbacks.

Both wars cost less over ten years than Obama spent in his first 30 days in office.
Can you register that in your simple brain?

Just shows you how uninformed so many people are. Obamacare is not "government" healthcare as the Rush/Hannity drama queens would have you believe. It is still based on PRIVATE insurance companies running the show. So why WOULD their stock tank? They will make out like bandits, like they always have. Anyone would be a fool to ever feel sorry for the insurance companies.

It shows Obama care is a favor to insurance companies. Proving the earlier statements about republicans and insurance companies is complete is bullsh#t.

And it is still true that with Obamacare, the federal government will have more control over healthcare than ever before. Up to and including forcing Jesuit church universities into buying controversial things for their students that violate their core religious beliefs. And pointing out that the purchase by proxy is irreverent.

I don't see my name on here, must be I am simple.

If you bought into that WMD crap, you are simple. At the same time America's press is crying nukes, the nukes had already been looked for on several trips to the country. Nothing was found. They knew he had deadly chem. war products. His own people told about dieing at the hand of that stuff. Not long ago our troops found what may have been a storage place for yellow cake over there. That was hushed up quick. You don't hear about half the crap that goes on over there. You never heard about what went on in the first Gulf War. Not all of the truth anyway. It's all a smoke screen. They keep you watching the TV every night about the wars and pull off many other things you will never hear about. You sit and watch the Dancing With The Stars every week and love it, while the tarp is pulled over the real problems in this world. I'm glad that the Middle East is starting to turn around. But it never was the real goal. (Jimmy?)

CR if you don't know that everyone knows your various names... check that... nevermind, yes you are simple.

WMD is another name for bio/chem/nukes.

A whole bunch of credible people found the WMD claim plausible. Remember when he kept kicking the inspectors out over and over again?
Remember the shell games and the pedophile weapons inspectors?
Remember the NYT's articles?
Remember the yellow cake report...not reliable British said it was?
Remember the oil for food and the crooked governments that were on the take for it?
Remember 9/11? That put the country in a mood not to take shit and that's what happened.
you might not have agreed with it.
You might not of thought it was worth it.
You might have known it would not end well for us.
But don't sit hear and tell us you never saw a reason for it.

Why do you hate America?
Why do you hate the troops?

Big daddy of Bagdad through out the inspectors over and over so no one country would know he was playing poker with the world. He had no hand and knew it. His Airforce, Army, and Navy were a joke and he knew he couldn't win. So he tried to tell the world he was ready for a fight and hoped that everyone feared his nukes he never had. He lost and hanged. That's the whole truth there.

The other front was always the right place to go. That was where the group that attacked America on 911 was and still is training. The mountains of the big A will always be the right place to go. I only would love it if by now the country could stand up for it's self and do the heavy lifting. They need to be told it's time.

No hate of the country here. Love the men and women in uniform. Hope nothing but greatness for them. tited onsitter
