Average household income is $66K, a bit more than twice that of Watertown. Severn is far more racially diverse as well.
Both cities are represented by a Democrat in Congress although Anne Arundel County is often GOP leaning, having voted red in the 2010 Gubernatorial race.

Average homes in Severn sell at $328K, as is the case in much of the greater DC area. However Sharon Addison's roots mirror Watertown. Schenectady, where her parents still live, is demographically similar to Watertown, as a former industrial city making a transition to a new economy.
The amount of time spent visiting NNY in recent years would suggest upstate NY is more her choice, although as we know people go where they have to go to make a living.
During the city manager search process, those candidates with local ties or some kind of affinity for upstate life stood out. Indeed all the finalists fell in that category.

Good post, Mr Mayor. That area of Virginia leans GOP because even though many make their living through government jobs, they are smart enough to know government isn't the answer to everything. Unlike the FreeStuff legions around here, who have never known anything but.
Is she a spy ? As in Agent 99 ?
She's not quite 99, but she is pretty. Let's hope she doesn't try to do everything in secret as she's been taught at the NSA. Then again, with Obama, our intelligence folks run their mouths all the time. Or at least our First Black President does, when it suits his reelection.
Would discussion of looks even be in the talks of a new city manager if a man had been hired? Some things never change.
For the record, I don't see a problem with hiring out of the area if there were no solid local applicants, which sounds the case. Since there seems to be a lot of internal issues going on in the city a new perspective and objectivity may be what's needed. Good luck Ms. Addison, hope its a smooth transition for you and your family.
I have heard a lot of comments over the years about one person in particular being follicley challenged and one guy they call "sweater guy". So yes, looks are still a topic of discussion for men in the public eye.
I was a resident of Watertown for 22 years and enjoyed every moment. That's why I still check daily with Newsjunky. However, back then and still now, I don't see why Watertown needs both a mayor and a city manager. If New York City can get buy with just a Mayor, why can't Watertown?
9:45, Have you noticed those comments are generally made by men about men? Seeing a pattern here.
New York city gets bi?
They get bye bye stealing from the rest of the state!
