It is a two to three hundred dollar savings on a car if it stays at 7%...But the way to get the increase is cut the towns, villages and the Maple City in for a little more. Then they will all be calling their Senator too.

The state lawmakers should not worry about being affiliated with a tax cut. They just have to frame it like Cuomo did with his tax increase. Call it a tax cut and cut the property taxes by a smidgen and then raise the sales tax. Do a press release and call it a tax cut and the MSN will repeat it verbatim as if it is true.
I see that Addie Jenne Whatever is for the tax increase. No surprise there. What is it with that woman? Not a lick of sense yet she's supposed to be a lawyer. Shows ya.
Heres a thought do what Ms. Mahoney did in Onandaga County rework the agreement and "cut" all the Townships out and Villages, then and only then will consolidation occur, AJR is a Joke. But no one rubs against her so.......................

St. Lawrence Co. has a deficit problem. There is not a lot of waste in County government there. Services have been cut. The only solution is to raise revenue. Over 50% of the sales tax in the county comes from "outsiders" (Canadians, students, students' parents, tourists etc.). ALL of the county administrators, and legislators agree that raising the sales tax by 1% would solve the deficit problem with the least pain to the local taxpayers. Only Senators Griffo and Richey are holding this up. Richey won last time because she carried St. Lawrence Co. We elected her over Aubertine because we thought she was one of us, and would look out for us. That simply has not been the case. Patti may be "one and done" if she continues to represent her Tea Party friends from elsewhere rather than her true constituents.
At least Addie makes a stance about something. Thats what has been lacking in our district with Patty Ritchie. She stands for nothing, she does nothing and takes credit for anything.. She says nothing but what Graham Wise says for her..
The tax increase itself I have very mixed emotions about.. Believe me I dont like the thought of paying more for anything but the reality of the matter is when every other county in the state with only a couple of other exceptions has a reate higher than seven percent I think its only fair we allow others to help pay our taxes... However my common sense has told me the group presently in office in the legislature dosnt kow how to cut corners and cut jobs I can only see property taxes going up also..
Ask anyone for this fact.. How many people were working for the County eight years ago.. How many now??? Wheres all these cuts they alledgedly made???? How come the Sheriffs Correctional people averaged between eight to ten percent raises.. Because the County hid what they did from the electorate....
I guess they need to get in touch with their Senator and attempt to have her help but remember she signed Grover Norquists no new taxes pledge in order to get elected thus protecting the rich and corporate people from paying their fair share....
I dont know what to think.. I gues it should be done according to the Counties around us however and now that three Senators represent us I guess we need their support even though Ritchie has turned her back on the local people....

No working person in St. Lawrence County wants a sales tax increase. Forget about Canadians and college students, the average working couple would pay an extra $600 with a one percent sales tax increase.
I can't afford to pay an extra $600. My wife and I already pay to much.
Patty Ritchie works for people like me.
Last year Sallie Brothers and Fred Morrill told us that if Patty Ritchi didn't raise the sales tax the Democratsb would be forced to raise property taxes by 28 percent. They said hey woul have to abolish the road patrol, the mental health agncy and the planning office.
Guess what?
None of it was true.
Sally wants the biggest tax hike - $13 million - in county history, but she and the Democrats want to be able to blame it on Patty Ritchie.

Lets be mathematically honest. raising the rate from 3% to 4% is not a 1% increase it is a 33% increase.
I drive down route 11 and what do I see but a bunch of sheriffs on a road duplicating the work of other law enforcement. I open the newspaper and read about the Sheriffs alcohol sting of little old ladies working in convenience stores.
I sit at my cottage in Jefferson county where they have the higher tax rate and I see cowardly sheriffs sit and wait to randomly pull over boaters and fishermen to check their papers, without probably cause. Living on the water my whole life I never felt threatened by these boaters or fishers.
Patty stick to your guns! If you raise it they will spend it. And not on something important it will be on something intrusive and unnecessary.
I forgot to mention the internet predator stings that cost a bazillion dollars in lawsuits. You know...the ones that use pictures of full grown adult women to entice and entrap young men as if they were full fledged pedophiles.
Yes 11:23, Addie takes a stance. Its always the same kind of stance. More taxes, more spending. She never met a tax she didn't like. And its always packaged as fair and reasonable. Only a fool would advocated more taxes for the people of NYS.

Cut the entire investigating division for starts.. Thats three... Law mandates a underSheriff and Sheriff and Correctional dept but nothing else..
Its a myth that the Civil division is mandated.. If I am wrong then correct me but quote me the law please mandating any civil division... There are several duties that a Sheriff is mandated to do that normally is done by a civil divisiion but in reality the Sheriff has the power to perform these jobs however he sees fit..
I believe in the sales tax increase but I also believe it should happen only and I mean only when the legislature cuts some fluff like the Sheriffs dept and some do nothingers at Dept of Social serivce.....
I was talking about them doing a road block right on RT 11 like you see boarder patrol doing all the time.
Hey 446 in Jefferson we have an abundance of things the Sheriff Dept does with FREE Money, K9, The Boat, The locater to find lost people, CERT,(not the breath mints) and in reality the Sheriff has to provide by law A lockup, Civil office, and not much else.

They do internet stings using naked pictures of coworkers.
Set up radar traps on 81 around the corner from the troopers.
Shadow school buses looking for someone that runs the yellow light just as it turns red.
Pull over every boat on the lake looking for boater safety course and cheating on fishing license.
do check points on snowmobile trails.
And you too can have this if you just suck it up and go to 8% sales tax.

For my family of 4, the difference is almost $200. It's another $200 on top of that if I buy even a modest new car.
I don't have any kids in college, and I'm not even Canadian--so tell me again why raising the sales tax helps a working stiff like me???!!!
The theory is that if you don't want to pay the 200 then they will have to rais your property taxes twice as much because outsiders don't pay any property tax.
Of course they don't tell you they could just cut the Sheriffs department and not raise any taxes. No one would miss 90% of what they do.
How about put it to referendum and a pledge from Patty that she will support the outcome of the referendum?
