"We aren't passing Silver's bill..." okay - do you have a GOP version that raises the minimum wage - or is Skelos and the other GOPers down there just looking for points in November to won on by the name-calling/Silver-Dem labeling?
Here is the Skelos-GOP talking points here in NYS and in DC:
Skelos had a renewed set of talking points on the minimum wage increase today, noting that not only would low-income earners lose their jobs, but would no longer qualify for federal tax credits or social service programs.
"Nobody should lose a job because someone is going to get 50 cents more," Skelos said.
The social service recipients won't lose a nickel. They will simply cut their availibility hours at their jobs so they work less hours and keep their free stuff. Don't tell me it won't happen that way either. That crap goes on two or three times a month at BOTH of the jobs my wife works. It happened at every job I ever worked before I retired, too. There is no incentive for them to work hard to better themselves. They have too good already. The minimum wage hike will just make it worse. Less jobs for those who want to work and higher costs for everything we have to buy.
