North Country Congressman Bill Owen's got a shout out on Politico.com tonight for a free trip he and his wife took to Taiwan last year.
The journey is said to have been sponsored by a lobbyist...which I guess is a no-no.
Of course, its important our NNY representitive have a thorough understanding of the island nation.
Good story to get planted, but whether the NNY MSM goes with it is doubtful.

I'll wade in and say I have always avoided any lobbyist goodies and always proposed that the rules be enforced in Congress.
Let's face it, they make the rules, ergo: they feel obligated and not shame, to break the rules.
This is a classic example of how "reform" works???
It comes down to honesty in our Rep./Senators: It's a simple solution, don't take money or favors from a lobbyist, people who cannot vote for you, or large sums in PAC money ... not hard to do, but hard to do and win ... I know that from firsthand experience. However, the principle is the root: serve the people not the money.

PAC money is different. The candidate does not have control over PAC money. And in this case, no one is talking about PAC money.
MSM didn't bite on Doheny's DC trip.
So Bill is the every man choice, Mchugh used to go to Iraq and 3rd world hot spots when he was in office. Owens learned well at the foot of Charlie Rangel's chaise lounge. MSM Tell us again how is he more touch than Matt Doheny?
Danny thinks he didn't win his elections because he didn't take lobbyist money? Doesn't have anything to do with you being wrong on every single issue Danny?
owens needs to come clean on this right away.
I am on the right side of this anti-big/or outside/or insider money issues and deals, and it has nothing to do with me losing or not.
If any Anonymous whack job here thinks that a duly-elected offical should be able to fulfill their duties by seeking your vote with one hand and filling their coffers with out of state/out of district/or hell, out of country money with the other and still say they work for us, then my friend you deserve the kind of government we surely have: corrupt to the bone.

Calling attention to Owens' ethics violation of accepting a $22k free trip from a lobyiest is not mudslinging.

Come on here! It's all a response to the kissing pictures. You stung me and I sting you kind of game. Only this sting has a little more pinch to it. Owens taking a free trip is no big deal to me. I see it all the time. It's the new way to sell the product. How many free trips do we all get offered every day? It just goes back to the old saying. NO FREE LUNCH MY FRIEND. Someone always want's something. Plus I almost feel it's a set up. How hard would it be to pay for a nice trip and hire a lobbyist to serve it? Owens should have knew to say no to something that seems to good to be true.
