Image Wars Underway in NY21

Its all about optics and so far the visuals have served incumbent Rep. Bill Owens well. He has central casting good looks and is the GQ Congressman.
Today challenger Matt Doheny posted a photo of himself and very pretty bride to be Mary Reidy, posing in front of some North Country barn wood.   Good photo.
I think people have to feel comfortable with the look and demeanor of their public officials.
Of course the Dems will ridicule the photo and MCM will try to use it as the hook to chatter about Gawker.  As long as they don't honeymoon in Taiwan courtesy of Alfonse, I think people will accept the photo for what it is...two nice people on the run-up to getting married.

Hey Mikey, what are ya thinkin' about the recall election in Wisconsin. It would appear you're about to get your NYC attitude inserted somewhere dark. It seems the people of Wisconsin recognize a step forward. You always preached progressive change. We got some in Wisconsin.

The image doesn't matter to me.
I only care about the issues.
Nancycare being the number on I can never forgive Owens for.

Wrong again. Except for the optics part - that's the only reason Doheny is getting married at all. Clearly he is not done sowing his 'wild oats'.

That's the first decent picture I have seen of the two of them. They should plaster that everywhere! Doheny needs some positive photos out there to offset the more "famous" ones.

How do you know the personal feelings of Doheny and his Lady, 7:20. I think your wife is having an affair. As long as you're running your partisan mouth let's all just throw mud. Fool.

6:59 is right. I will never forgive Owens/Pelosi for his healthcare vote OR his healthcare lie. He claimed his constituency wanted it. He knows that is not true.

As he continues to struggle with staying on topic, 6:28pm has demonstrated once again that ADHD is not just a childhood disorder.

Remember 6:28, with a little understanding and proper medical treatment, YOU can still live a normal life.

Good luck -- we are all pulling for ‘ya buddy!

You nailed it Jeff. It's all about image. I'm tempted to say a lot more, but most of its already been said in the above posts.

So 1:23, we will take that to mean that you aren't as excited about the Scott Walker recall election as you once were. I don't blame you. It was an exciting moment for liberals. And now its just not as important as it once was. I don't blame you. I'd play down the situation if I were you too. It seems the people of Wisconsin just didn't share your enthusiasm for stupidity. And after all that progressive money was spent. What a waste. I feel for ya, buddy.

Oh Doheny. You will NEVER win an image war. This picture is like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound. Aside from just outright looks, the Owens family fits the bill for the profile of a Congressman so much better than Doheny ever will. Family. Values. Family values. But I agree with 9:21, the cameramen on the campaign and in the press have a knack for catching these two in the most unflattering manner. This one is actually quite decent. Forced and contrived, but decent.

The last race was virtually 50/50 and the images were already out there.
The only thing new is the smooch and the 84MPH speeding ticket and the free trip to China.
If it is a two wa7y instead of a three way then Doheny wins. Unless the environmentalists notice how bad Owens is for the environment and vote Green. Then Doheny still wins the three way.

The important thing to remember 6:28PM in this senate election is that if the Dems win just one seat, that will give them a majority in the state senate, it could also have a telling impact on the Presidential elections in November. Right now the Dems have nothing to lose but much to gain even with one seat alone being won.

It is Owens/Pelosi who has the image problem. I don't care much about the illegal trips and his holier than thou attitude about traffic laws. What I won't forget is his under the desk job assignment taking care of Nancie Pelosi. She is our national example of Sheldon Silver. With our representative in a subservient position to Nancie, his image is shot. I have no understanding of how he owes her more than he serves us. The lip service he give us is in no way as sick as what he provides her.
