Could Hassig Be This Year's Doug Hoffman ?

To this day, Matt Doheny attributes his narrow loss two years ago to Bill Owens on the impact of Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman....This year Mr. Doheny is hoping Green Party candidate Donald Hassig will be Rep. Owen's version of Doug Hoffman.

There are some differences. Hoffman and Doheny competed in a GOP primary and were in essence competing for the same voters.
The eclectic Green Party voter is not necessarily a person secretly wanting to vote Democrat but is lured away by the social justice and progressive economic policies of the Greens.
People who vote for a Donald Hassig are in some ways just contrarians to who neither Owens or Doheny could ever lay claim to.
But the fact is Team Doheny is hoping some of the "free stuff" crowd they feel usually votes Democratic will migrate to Line F on the ballot.
Our own little on-line poll has Mr. Hassig at 5%, more than enough to make a difference in a really close race.
Of course the MSM is committed to two party politics and will not cover Mr. Hassig...Plus he does things like dance in the lobby of public buildings, leading to the conclusion he is nuts.
But when you vote Green, its not for a person, its for a concept. Time will tell on this one.

Hoffman was nuts too but he still almost won once and almost won a primary once and changed the race outcome the second time.

There is a segment of traditionally democratic voters that could be sucked in if the fracking and oil company stuff was played up. As you know...it doesn't have to be true. In the case of oil companies it is true.

There is also a segment of normally sure-thing democrat voters that could be repelled because of Owens' strong gun support. But that only can be played to selective audiences. Like on an SLU campus paper or some other bleeding heart brainless group of easily influenced voters. Try to play that angle to the general population in the north country and it could help Owens as much as hurts him.

Seriously...I would have voted for Hoffman if I had too but the way he acted in public made him look socially retarded...or nuts, take your pick.

Bottom line is the party of the Donkey has people in it who are less likely to divide their vote. There is a unity to FreeStuff, spend more, ignore reality. These type of idiots stick together. Whenever there is a third option, it will hurt the Elephants more, as those people have brains.

Wow Jeff! The Taiwan lobbyist vote is pouring in for Owens tonight.
You should list the IP's so we can see witch side used more proxy servers to stuff the ballot box.

re: "...leading to the conclusion he is nuts."

Well, maybe he is but you have to be "nuts" to vote for either a Democrat or Republican.

A "green" Hoffman - doubtful - but pretty much cut from the same cloth nevertheless - loose screws aside.

I hate to say it, being an Independent, but I hope he doesn't last long in it. Plus I hope he steps away quick without causing much damage. If a person knows he or she has no chance in hell to win, they need to stay away. Why take away from a two men who both have a shot and the money?
