Cap Not a Problem When Its for the Children

No fewer than 51 of the State's nearly 700 school districts sought to override the 2% tax cap by requiring a super majority of 60% approval of the budget.
One district in Stillwater failed to make it to sixty but it seems like the rest did.
Few people vote on these budgets, but in Bethlehem, near Albany, some 6,000 cast ballots.
Those who vote on budgets are those with a more direct stake in the system and extra spending doesn't bother them.
Those who vote no are cranky, barren people clinging to their guns and bibles.

Goshy, I wish I worked in a field that was related to "childrens needs". Then I would be doing so much better. I'd have a new Volvo instead of an old Chevy. But class envy is not advised in this case. That's only for other businesses.

Those who vote no are those of us who expect our school officials to operate schools on the same principle as the rest of us must conduct our lives. Which means not spending more than we take in or continually asking for more money for stupid failing programs that have nothing to do with the education of our children. Your guns and bibles comment is an insult to the vast majority of the north country population and certainly is beneath you, Jeff. Shame on you.

Now I see on NJ that Watertown is not family friendly apparently something to do with not enough entertainment/ice arena issue, or whatever.Well, lets see,the city has a huge city park, and assorted playgrounds,a very nice library, numerous restaurants,a movie theater and mall close by,not to mention outdoor pursuits up the yinyang in this area and many more I am sure others can come up with..if you ain't keepin your kids occupied it's not the city's fault..

Vote the schools budgets down until they understand that the fat must be taken out. If the are voted in each year they will get anything they want. The schools have plenty!

Why do we vote on school budgets?
We don't vote on city budgets we just let the people we elected vote on them.
