WDT: No Clear Path to Ownership for Mercy When it Closes in 2013

When back taxes were paid on the Mercy complex last year, it was in some ways good for the City, but it also put off for two years a means to obtain title to the complex upon it closure in January.
The enormous set of buildings on Stone Street will officially become a white elephant when nursing home patients are moved to a new facility in early 2013.
Discussions will intensify in the coming months, but this is a problem euphemistically described as 'vexing'.

VA and Community services in on building could work:

I have suggested as you know already Mayor, that Mercy, with your help, and a bipartisan effort could be privatized to the largest degree possible with various medical services and programs. It could also possibly have a VA component for 'Traumatic Brain Injury' etc. Has Bill Owens been asked to offer any in-put on this vexing problem to our community?
Of course you and Addie work well together and I know she’s an ‘IDEA’ person. I trust she would have something constructive to offer.

I asked Bill Owens what he thinks and he said to take billions from medicaid and use it to give no co-pay free birth control to 30 year old college students. Then he drove away at 83 miles per hour.

I asked Matt Owens what we should do and he threw me a football, tee-shirt, and sped off in his boat..

I know what you mean 3:18 pm… I asked Matt Doheny the same question. He just shrugged his shoulders and then took off in his boat with two floozies and a bottle of rum.

Mr. Mayor, what about converting at least one of the buildings into an "extension" jail for the county so that we may house our inmates at home. Plenty of space, small rooms, medical and dietary facility.
