A year ago Mike Flynn (self proclaimed Middle Class Mike) was a regular contributor to the local paper as an advocate for Councilman Smith in the Mayor's race. Mr. Flynn took to blogs and talk shows as well with a strong evisceration of your's truly and he became ubiquitous in the process.
MCM's candidate didn't win, and some have argued that MCM's acerbic advocacy was so over the top it may have done more harm than good. Who know's ? He is a bright and engaging talker, who keeps it interesting.
This year MCM has set his sights on the relection of Rep. Bill Owens and his target to rip is likely GOP challenger Matt Doheny.
He is beating the drum on the the issue of Doheny's purported smooch in a DC restaurant that other local media have generally ignored. Mr. Flynn has gone as far as ripping one media baron who was his ally last year. MCM is openly criticising the WDT and its Managing Editor, Bob Gorman. MCM contends the media needs to demand a press conference on the dinner in DC.
As for me, I have no beef with Bob this year. Heck, his household even has a "Mayor's Bar" t-shirt. The irony of MCM's attacks on the local media doesn't escape me though.

It reminds me of the old adage in politics, that if you don't like the way things are, just wait a minute and it will all change.

Does Mike make a difference, sure. The more he says the same thing the less we hear what he says. Same with Dan. When you become such a party line stooge you become predictable. What you say has little meaning. When Mike or Dan comes on, its time to make a sandwich and get water for the dog, or use the bathroom. When ur done with your chores they are usually done with their spoon fed talking points. I can tell you what both are going to say tomorrow, and all next week.
I think he's in it for the meals.
I don't see the irony. MCM is calling it like he's seeing it, and I tend to be seeing the same thing. The fact is, the only print media ignoring the Doheny DC incident is the local WDT. Why is that? It's a valid question that deserves to be answered.
As with the latest Glens Falls Post-Star article, the "scandal" isn't so much the actual incident itself, but the fact that Doheny and his team has steadfastly refused to comment or explain it in anything not resembling dismissive spin. This man is a candidate for a national public office, and given his past indiscretions, we, as voters, deserve a little more of an explanation. Times are tough, and policy made today will affect us for years to come. We need solid, responsible representation in Washington, not another embarrassing John Sweeney-type party-boy.
The guy is bonkers, did you see his latest on the NJ link to the sheriff's issue where he is calling for Hillary Clinton to come to Watertown? I don't know why, maybe to explain why as a female cuckold she decided to stand by BJ Bill and remain the first lady..gee what a standup guy she is,why this guy thinks she needs to come to Watertown about this issue has got to be some of the most convoluted type thinking I have witnessed recently..maybe this mcm guy could present her with roses..yeeecccchh..
Mayor, you spelled gratuitous wrong.
I disagree with the previous blogger. MCM does make a difference in my opinion. He gives fact that otherwise fall silent by the way side. For instance Doheny and his disgraceful actions in Washington. The NNY media has kept it quiet while places like Glens Falls wants an explanation.. The mayors (neutral) blogging downplays it at every chance they get. Comman guys really... I live in Ogdensburg and up until a blogger posted the info that MCM put on your blog I didnt have a clue to his ludicrous behavior. My conclusion to this posting is that neither me nor my family will vote for Doheny now... We want a man with crediblility and values not one whos a common lush....
Thanks for the mention Mayor: 'over the top' that depends on who you talk to sir. But when they attack you in politics for your influence on events, you must have done real damage.
Jeff thanked me and I know it was sincere, so my efforts were appreciated where it counted.

I agree, I can't listen to MCM any longer what he spews is utter non sense and so canned.
He is intelligent, yet he thinks he sees some smoking gun here with these photos. His canned talking points on any issue are old.
Mayor rightfully points out he MCM berated him in order to get Jeff Smith elected. So where is MCM on Jeff Smith now? Silence, speaks for itself.
"I don't see the irony. MCM is calling it like he's seeing it, and I tend to be seeing the same thing. The fact is, the only print media ignoring the Doheny DC incident is the local WDT. Why is that? It's a valid question that deserves to be answered."
Because the WDT is pro-Doheny.
I agree with the first poster. The redundancy of his message delivered again and again at the same venues really weakens his argument. I actually with a lot of what he says a lot of the time, but I agree with the parallel to Dan Francis - when I see his blog posts or hear him on the radio I skip past it or tune out. Rather than reiterating the same point to the same people they should both try to be more creative about how to get their points across to other readers, viewers or listeners.
All of that being said, I agree that doheny's "out of context" excuse and blaming the democrats and the media for his obvious indiscretion is disgraceful and unacceptable. He would have been better off remaining mute on the subject than trying to spin it so terribly.
I agree with MCM I feel Doheny should come forward and explain. Mayor the only reason you don't is because you feel he is right no matter what he does. My feelings really go out to the Lady that plans to marry him in a few months. I hope she will not be one of the "wives" that has no problem with what he may do. Doheny needs to come forward and the only reason the local media has downplayed is because they don't want to do anything that will hurt that revenue stream coming there way this fall. MCM keep up the good work, now they will say that you have been set up by the DCCC. LOL
Hi guys,
This was published in Amaral's blog on the 28th, the 29th and the 30th. The Times wrote about this on 3/30 on the front page of the local news section. While we have not written an editorial on this, we have not ignored it. In fact, our story on the 30th brought comments to the table from the parties in the 21st.
We are not perfect and I will certainly take criticism for the lack of an editorial to date. However, we have not been silent on the issue.
Thanks for reading and thanks for continuing to take us to task. Like it or not, the criticism, the anonymous bashing and the rare compliment in the comments on Jeff's blog certainly help keep us focused.

I want to know if Matt Doheny masturbates. The public has a right to know if he is cheating on his girlfriend with his hand. And did he pay to have his mothers porch painted? With all the money he earned he should be able to afford to paint his mothers porch.
MCM is a fake. Look at the photo he uses on his facebook page. Here's a guy talking down to the less fortunate and posing at the perfect angle while doing so. That kind of posturing could work well in NYC, but I just don't see it here in NNY. We're just not a slick. Anyone who works with the poor knows you speak to them as equals, because they are. But not our Mikey. He brings his Michael Moore hat and sport coat and photographer and even catches the Salvation Army sign to perfect advantage. He wants you to know how generous he is. And once he gets the photo, he spreads it around for all to see. I, for one, am deeply impressed. One things for sure, if Mike won the lottery, before he gave away any money, the first thing he'd build is a monument to himself, and perhaps buy a radio station to call all day long. Hey, for the right price, I'd even call in and tell you how wonderful you are.
Funny, I chose it over one where I was speaking with Senator Chuck Schumer, because the gentleman and myself were talking about coming back from adversity 'Mine' if you must know. How dare you imply I would show anyone the type of disrespect your about showing me in any case.
Mike Flynn 'Middle Class Mike
Mr. Johnson, your paper did indeed write about the issue, but I believe only well after other outlets available to internet users, like NJ, linked to it. Basically, because you HAD to say something, you did, and you dismissed it out-of-hand as requiring no further serious discussion.
Given the candidates past indiscretions involving alcohol, coupled with his all-but steadfast refusal to directly address the DC issue with anything but spin, I feel it does indeed warrant further discussion. Voters should be aware of the character of the person representing them in any elected office. I've said it before and I'll say it again - We don't need another John Sweeney in Congress, and that's exactly who I think we'd be getting with Doheny.
The WDT is doing its' audience a disservice by not pressing Doheny to address the character issue in a frank and direct manner.
Mikey, you are such a wonderful man. I can tell by the way you promote yourself. Such a wonderful condescending pose. The way you tip your head exudes magnanimity. I get a tingle down my leg just looking at that photo.
Echoes of a Party Hardy Guy:
I can easily imagine I hear the music coming from Doheny headquarters, "Fly Me To The Moon ... ah yes, it's B&B time, or if you like 'Booze and Broads' time, as everyone just sings along, while holding their drink. Matt doesn't just like Sinatra's music, Matt wants to be Sinatra, and with 8 Million from 'Wall Street' whats to stop him? Your vote stops him from being our Congressman. We don't need to support this guy and his frat boy image and actions.
Mike Flynn 'Middle Class Mike'
I always liked Sinatra. Never liked Mike. Nice photo, Mike. Now you're a liar about the circumstances of that too. Best to just let you talk. You're your own worst enemy.
