Since the story was broken this afternoon, let me confirm that after three weeks of discussions on choosing a city manager on an interim basis, the consensus I came to was to recommend the appointment of John Krol. A proposed agreement was forwarded to Council on Friday for their consideration and possible action tonight.
I will defer to Council before ansering media inquiries after tonight's meeting.

Well isn't that cozy? No surprise here. Krol will be hired with a big raise plus taking $10K to lead an unbiased search in which he stated he had no interest in the position. The whole thing doesn't pass the smell test.
Mayor Graham and the entire city council, if they vote for this, should all resign - they are unfit to serve this community one day longer:

The City hires and pays a man to screen applicants for the job, and now they will appoint him temporarily to the job while he still seeking a permanent replacement for himself?
I'm sorry, but this is wrong. It may not be illegal, but it sure smacks of something terribly wrong with this City government. Let's face it, just because it is NOT illegal, does not make it morally or ethically right; not one bit.
So, what if Mr. Krol picks himself for the permanent job? Hey, just asking. Nothing surprises me about the 5 people we call our city “leaders” nothing – not one bit.

Wow! What a practical solution! Putting a guy int the chair that has actually been a city manager before. Plus he can bring and outside set of experienced proven eyes to the job.
I am sure all the armchair quarterbacks and shadow government will tell you how wrong this is. Danny would have promoted the snow plow supervisor to fill in.

It is bad enough that the "City Fathers" weren't even qualified to conduct their own search, without rolling over and handing the job to the headhunter himself. I bet he takes the 10 g's, the 147 g's AND the "emergency travel money.
