George Zimmerman is in custody charged with second degree murder in the vigilante run amuck killing of 17 year old Trayvon Martin in a gated community in Sanford, FL.
My guess is prosecutors had to go for the murder rap given the publicity and unrest. In the end the affirmative defense will be self-defense and the final verdict will likely be manslaughter.
This is a tough case as its not the racism the Sharpton crowd is peddling, but it sure is reckless behavior in using Neighborhood Watch to be a cop wannabe.
It's an ugly episode featuring lousy and inflammatory journalism and ugly race baiting. With Black Panthers and neo-Nazis cruising the streets of Sanford, residents must be asking, what did we do to deserve this ?

How does that work anyway? I thought they had to put it before a grand jury?
What did the people of Sanford do to deserve this? How about supporting an incompetent police force that flub dubbed an obvious shooting that led to the death of an unarmed teenager. You can bet if the teenager was white , and the shooter black, there would have been a lynching by now.
You are the mayor and you can't figure out why this whole mess went south? If they did their jobs, we wouldn't even know about it, and guys like Rev. Sharpton would not have been given a world stage.
I'm beginning to wonder if your kind of thinking has led to the firing of the city manager and the retirement of the police chief after a city councilor got a .20 DWI? I bet in your book, you feel it should have been "taken care of".

How does a public death threat by the black panthers not be noticed by the law? They offered money to have Zimmerman killed! Before the trial! Oh I'm sorry, they are the African American Panthers.
