These stories about who is still behind Matt Doheny are predictable. The race is still about ideology and who presents conservative, free enterprise ideas and values.
Of course, core supporters of Mr. Doheny are not going to bolt because of a photo or a video doing what any of us have done after a long day and a couple of cocktails.
Today, the NY Post published a cell phone video of Mr. Doheny palling around with two DC lovelies on the patio of a restaurant...It wasn't all that provocative, but Dems are salivating that they have some kind of silver bullet scandal to sink one of the few GOP candidates poised to pick off an incumbent Democrat in 2012.
The NNY media doesn't quite know how to handle this style of politics and the old guard WDT waited until rival Newzjunky linked to the Post before doing anything.
The North Country still isn't used to the rough and tumble world of today's politics and yearns for the days when lawmakers didn't have trackers and 'gotcha'meisters trailing them.

Come on mayor. Matt's actions might classify as something "any of us have done after a long day and a couple cocktails" when we were SINGLE. Matt is engaged.
If everyone in a serious relationship, be it married, engaged or just seriously dating, behaved this way the divorce rate would even higher. I am little disappointed you take the sanctity of marriage so lightly.

Matt's choosing the lifestyle of a Politician, but can't conform to proper behavior in public.
Living in the 'Public Eye' is the profession that you and Matt chose when you entered politics. When other people went down in flames the Republican Conservatives were on the phone making fun of people like Weiner who were going through the worst time of their lives.
You were so happy to destroy so many others, but Matt's one of your own so he should get a free pass to grope woman in public, after all he's engaged but not married just engaged?
Some people aren't made for marriage and the restriction of their focus to a loving spouse. They are people who like not being tied down and free to do as they please. What chance would you have in a marriage with a mindset like this anyway?
Anyway,please don't run for Congress, we want a good family man who we can trust to act responsibly in public.

Thanks for taking the shot at us about publishing cycles. We acted well before anyone else in the north country - Amaral alerted out Twitter followers as soon as it was posted in the NY Post. Then he took the path of journalism and contacted local GOP chairs and party members for comment. Bringing that local comment and local perspective to the news is what we do and that goes beyond an aggregated link.

The race is about getting rid of Owens to make sure Nancy Pelosi and Obama do not have rubber stamp Representative for their terrible schemes.
"They" can't "getcha" if you are behaving appropriately...Mike Long is a joke and Hank Ford would condone the behavior although the women might be a little too old for his taste. But they are all bought and paid for and Jude sold his soul for cash too..Perhaps Amaral can get hired as a babysitter for the candidate.

I truely like Glenn and the Mayor, but we don't see eye to eye on this canbdidate. Glenn and I get hot, because he tries to disrespect democrats like myself, and many others to numerous to mention. We can't get a fair shake and we need our own radio show.

I don't see anything in the photos that makes me feel differently about Doheny. The people who do have their minds made up and are simply looking for a reason to go nuts. MCM, there's a big diffence between this and sending photos of your penis to women you only met on the internet. And you defended that behaviour. If Rep. Congressional Candidate Matt Doheny was a tree, I'd be screaming timber; Matt's coming to ground 8 Million and all. Mr. Long as you and the Conservative Party were advised by me two years ago when Matt ran in 2010, "You guys don't want character to matter, but it matters to me, and may people like me. We need Jobs not scandals and this guy has provided more scandals than JOBS! We have a Congressman, his name is Representative Bill Owens and he doesn’t get in trouble and is a family man.

Owens voted for Obamacare and he has towed the Obama line from day one. He has to go! Doheny is the only viable choice. So Doheny gets my vote. Romney would not have been my first choice either, but Obama has to go! Romney gets the vote. I'm 62 yrs. old and I have yet to enter a voting booth that didn't eminate an unbearable stench. You close your eyes and let your nose lead you to the levers that stink the least. That's all you can do. Politicians are imperfect creatures, same as all the rest of us. We just try to make the best choices availible to us.
Oh, and one more thing, anybody who thinks that engaged people (male or female) "don't engage in that type of behavior" really hasn't been paying attention. It's been going on since the beginning of time and will continue to the end of time, regardless of financial or social standing.

Hey Mr Johnson where is your good reporting on your buddy PJ Simao about him losing a lawsuit? Or are your protecting him like Doheny.
Mr. Mayor, you're kidding, right? You and I both know that if this was some Democrat or some other candidate who wasn't the fair-haired golden boy of Washington St., this would be the big news of the day or week.
To say that NNY media outlets such as the Watertown Daily Times don't know how to deal with the rough and tumble just doesn't pass the smell test. They've proven time and time again that they're more than capable of going round for round with the best of them when they WANT to. Unfortunately, this time they seem to have been bought and paid for by team Doheny and his fists full of cash. By all but ignoring or minimizing this story, they're doing their readership a huge disservice.
This IS a story. It's a story about trust, respect, responsibility and judgement. Do any of these words apply to Doheny? Has he learned NOTHING from his alcohol-related exploits of a few years ago. Do we really want to send this forty-something fratbot to Congress?

I am a Democrat and had planned on voting for Doheny come this election but I'm really disappointed in his character after these reports.
I definitely wouldn't vote for Owens again. Find him very non-supporting of the voters who got him there. Sent him letters & emails regarding a very serious subject here in the north country and NEVER received ANY kind of acknowledgement.
Once again mr mayor offers up speculation and rumor,ostensibly supporting the candidate,while fomenting discord,and making sure his own skirts appear starched white.If you think he is republican,or democrat,or independent,guess again.He is a Jeff Graham supporter only,and supports only positions that suit his purposes.Including going to Petes as he always trumpets on this blog, and hanging out with his elephant party "friends".Very doubtful..
