Jay Donovan should know a thing or too about offensive comments, so as program director for WTNY, its no surprise he says recent Rush Limbaugh comments are "much ado about nothing."
The long time shock jock was asked by the WDT to comment on Limbaugh's labeling of a Georgetown student as a "slut" and "prostitute" after she testified before Congress.
Jay did say the remarks were wrong but paled compared to things said by the "other side".
As a long time talk show host myself, I know you cannot afford to have your standards defined by the most low brow of your opponents.
It's been years since networks and stations had departments committed to standards and practices.

It's a simple game to play and not very difficult see through. Conservative person A is seen to be doing a bad “thing.” Instead of taking responsibility and dealing with that “thing” on its own terms, the loony right's predictable response is always to deflect attention to “liberal” person B who is said to have done the exact same bad “thing”.
On occasion the allegation against person B may be essentially correct, but that is beside the point. The real point is the unvoiced argument that Person B's conduct somehow indemnifies or exonerates person A. Or, in other words, everybody's doing it so that somehow makes it OK.
These preconceived notions of hypocrisy are intended to shame people into accepting the patent nonsense of the implied argument. Fortunately, most thinking Americans are waking up to the thocratic right’s absurd logic.

Most logical fallacies are not fallacies at all, such as in this case in which we are talking about the feigned outrage of “B” over “B’s” supposed standards of decorum and etiquette in political discourse.
