Everyone Has an Opinion on Florida Tragedy

The Trayvon Martin case in Sanford, Florida has everyone weighing in from Geraldo to the POTUS.
President Obama says if he had a son, he'd look like Trayvon, while Mr. Rivera advises parents not to let their kids wear hoodies, as they might be a target for suspicious whites just itching for a reason not to like people of color.
It's the latest tragedy turned pop culture talking point and metaphor for whatever you want to make of it.
It sounds like murder to me and certainly not the "stand your ground" explanation initially offered by police. (It does say something about the kind of people who get involved in being do it yourself vigilantes.)
Now there's mobs in the tens of thousands demanding an arrest and prosecution, which now has to happen since so many people have weighed in.

Eerily reminiscent of the press-driven lynch mob for a certain college lacrosse team.

Why is it the names like Trayvon are always used, seems odd......

Anonymous said...

mobs??? You DID go to "J- School" at Liberty U. didn't you!

The popular narrative unravels.

Exactly, Chief K. Everyone knew what happened then too.

I love Fox news' logic: Since Zimmerman is part hispanic he can't be racist toward blacks. WTF?

Memo to Anonymous 11:00.

Um, excuse me. Why is it that certain Anonymous a-hole posters like you hide behind the Anonymous label to post your vile and weak insinuations, which like you are transparent, weak, and easy to figure out.

Stand by your own name. Your current name "Anonymous" sounds pretty, well, sounds as you said, "odd."

Get real.

Anonymous said...

So let’s see, we have at least 4 witnesses “publicly” saying one thing and 1 “anonymous” witness saying another and a dead unarmed 17 year old on his way back from the store… make an arrest and let’s take it to trial… now.

Anonymous said...

Obama did it again by commenting 0n this issue. It is way below his station to be vocal. Now the media jackals are calling the victim "The Nations Child." Pathetic. The police told the guy that he did not to follow the kid. The shooter is guilty. Prosecute him. Obama, stay out of it.

Anonymous said...

911 said, "we don't need you to do that".
they did not order him to stop following the guy.
Don't cops carry a spare gun to plant for these type of paperwork problems?

Anonymous said...

Dannie, I just know you're made a little ol' me. But it ain't me that's tikkin' you off. I didn't say anything about the name. If I had a kid, I'd name him Dannie. Again Sir, lighten up. You're just flailing away with no target in sight. I would have thought the Marines would have taught you better.

Anonymous 12:08 - Your post above as Anonymous 11:00 is posted here in total: "Why is it the names like Trayvon are always used, seems odd......"

I posted about that - don't recall your own post, or are not Anonymous 11:00 - if not, then why blast me as another Anonymous - my contention stands... hiding behind an Anonymous label is cowardly...

BTW: if you had a son named "Dannie" it still could not equate to my name - get real and stop being so childish.

Hey, let’s get something straight right now… just because George Zimmerman stalked and murdered a black teenager minding his own business… doesn’t make him a racist.

Geesh… what’s wrong with people?

Anonymous said...

Dan, we don't know what you're talking about.

And 1:42, it is too soon to make all of the judgements you are making.

Anonymous said...

12:43pm, Don’t equate “judgment” with established facts.

Anonymous said...

1:42 is correct...
Whenever a non-black murders a black, it is racism.
Whenever a person is killed it is murder.
Whenever a 6'-2" guy that got kicked out of school the day before, is followed for acting suspicious, it is stalking.

Anonymous said...

“Whenever a 6'-2" guy that got kicked out of school the day before, is followed for acting suspicious, it is stalking.”

But of course, why didn't I see that!

Yeah that kid sure did have a lot of nerve walking down the street in the rain wearing a hoodie… on the way back to his father's house from the store… carrying a can of soda, a box of skittles, minding his own business … but HORROR OF HORRORS… HE WAS OVER 6' TALL!!

And what was that 911 dispatcher possibly thinking when he explicitly told Zimmerman NOT to follow him and that THE POLICE WERE ON THE WAY!?!

9:51pm, don't take it personally… but you need to be sterilized so your gene pool doesn't further pollute humanity with such imbecilic comments…

On second thought… take it personally.

Anonymous said...

12:42 to answer your question...you didn't get it because you are a partisan idiot.
You don't care about the facts you only care about rephrasing the facts and adding false information to the "facts".

Too late to sterilize me...I am already well bread.
No need to sterilize you, as mother nature will see to it that you cannot find a mate that would have you.

The 911 operator never told Zimmerman to stop following. he said "we don't' need you to do that". Of course that doesn't fit your narrative so you will lie and twist what was said.

It was not "his fathers house" that allegedly connected him to the neighborhood.

When force or deadly force is used in self defense, the size of the attacker is certainly a consideration in determining if it was justified. To pretend that the 6'-2" size was irrelevant is disingenuous libtard crap.

Anonymous said...

The most important fact to me that stands out at this time is that Zimmerman stalked, approached, and shot to death an unarmed teenager. The victim was completely innocent.

If the 17 year old did attack him in self defense, than Zimmerman provoked it by being unnecessarily aggressive… this is apparent from the phone call.

He was stalking his prey, he was angry, and he is mentally unbalanced.

Dan Francis said...

Maybe young Martin felt threatened, too and was defendign himself. But we may never know.

How can you not love this country? It's like the Wild West meets Nazi Germany.

If you see someone you don't particularly like the looks of… just talk tough, threaten them, maybe provoke them with a shove or two… and then when they instinctively fight back… you can just shoot 'em up and call it self defense.

Conversely, if you happen to be walking down the street and a random stranger orders you to stop on a whim, you must submit to them and answer all questions, or expect to be executed.

Yee-hah!

12:42am has it right. A rational and sane person wouldn't just stalk a person carrying a loaded gun for no reason, and even fewer people would be willing to do so without a direct threat to self, family, home or property.

Zimmerman wasn't firing at somebody walking up his driveway, or somebody on his front porch, or somebody breaking in his car or ransacking his house. Even people who are totally anti-gun could at least understand the motivation in these circumstances.

Rather, Zimmerman continued following Trayvon Martin after being told by a dispatcher that it was time to stop pursuing Martin. Pursuing is the key...

Keep in mind; the police were on the way. There is absolutely no justification for Zimmerman to exit his vehicle in pursuit of Mr. Martin.

And what the hell difference does it make if you are 5’, 6’, or 7’ feet tall if you are being pursued and threatened by a 250lb. person with a loaded gun? And do you really think there is a notable distinction between visiting his father’s house or his father’s girlfriend’s house?

Or for that matter, how stupid do you have to be NOT to understand "we don't' need you to do that" to mean -- don’t follow him.

Seriously, who is being the “disingenuous partisan idiot” here?

Based on the 911 tapes Zimmerman is clearly the aggressor here whose reckless actions set into motion a series of events that caused the needless death of a completely innocent teenager.

He had no business following an unarmed kid with a loaded weapon that was not breaking the law, no matter what he looked like.

I don't care if Trayvon Martin looked like friggin Godzilla wearing a hoodie on a bad day.

“Too late to sterilize me...I am already well bread.”

Is that a fact? Well for someone who is so well “bread” proper word usage is definitely not among your attributes.

But then your ego is far bigger than your IQ.

You can do better; I’m pulling for you.

Its a literary device you freakin' moron. An idiom reduced to a double entendre via the pun. I am no longer Einstein and am now Newton in comparison to you. Please quit posting here and making yourself look so foolish. Everyone is embarrassed for you.

Anonymous said...

As expected, more gibberish...

Is that what I get for being congenial you ungrateful “in-bread?”

If YOU had any semblance of integrity YOU would be embarrassed by YOUR long history of uttering sheer nonsense due to YOUR big mouth running entirely independent of YOUR tiny brain.

Oh, in case you're wondering about the use of the word “in-bread”… it’s a “literary device you freakin' moron. An idiom reduced to a double entendre via the pun”…

No need to be a crybaby... and you might want to work on your self esteem a little.

p.s. I do, however, appreciate your “literary device” response. I will be saving it for future reference and filing it under BS.

Once again, your post is riddled with ignorance... but thanks for playing along.

If people are really interested, they can read the initial crime report and listen to the 911 tapes on the Sanford city website readily available, click on the Martin investigation link on the homepage.I think it provides information that explains why they are fully checking into this and not just go out and hanging the guy as some would have done.

Now, its looking like all you liberal butt heads have made fools of yourselves, agin. You tried to make political hay out of things before you knew the facts, agin. As Dannie would say, you are all assholes, agin. Oooops, never mind, agin.

Stupid is as stupid does, agin.

I agree, and while you’re at it (if you’re really interested) you might want to check out the part of the tape where Zimmerman says f**king c**ns under his breath.

And when I say “check it out”… I mean listen carefully as I have countless times before you blame the victim.

Or if you prefer, we can all pretend he said f**king goons instead.

Not so fast “shit for brains”…

“A police surveillance video taken the night that Trayvon Martin was shot dead shows no blood or bruises on George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who says he shot Martin after he was punched in the nose, knocked down and had his head slammed into the ground…” [snip]

Zimmerman & Co's inept attempts to cover up his apparent criminal act are falling faster than the speed of light!

No blood? No head wound?

Remember, his lawyer has been claiming his head was “repeatedly” slammed into the concrete by Trayvon and he required stitches... same with the nose.

Also, where is the blood all over his clothing? I think we're seeing the collapse of the “self defense” big lie!

They're not foolin' anyone, except of course, hardcore Fox viewers and morons like 4:36pm, but then again that goes without saying...

Your right about one thing though… “Stupid is as stupid does, agin.”

Not optimal quality, but adequate. After a “life and death” struggle, you'd expect at least one bandage. It definitely doesn't pass the smell test.

Anonymous said...

Zimmerman told investigators that Martin jumped him from behind, punched him in the nose and pounded his head into a sidewalk"

Yeah that was the story last week. Yesterday they changed it in the Orlando Sentinel article. Now Martin "approached" him from behind, they exchanged some words, and then Martin punched him from the front.

The only thing we know for sure is that some white guilt extremist libruls have already convicted Zimmerman in their minds and guessed at most of the facts and embellished the ones that they did know. The resolution on the police camera is obviously not high enough to depict the details that the fascists are claiming do not exist.

In the libtard minds of those who have jumped on the bandwagon along with Spike Lee and hymietown Jackson...when it comes to white people (actually brown skin) it is better to convict 100 innocent men then to let one guilty man go free.

Anonymous said...

Have to agree with 10:22 on the resolution issue. With the advent of cellphone cameras years ago,I believe there are likely photos of Z by the police, (and possibly the emts) shortly after they arrived which should show his condition much more clearly.Once the head wounds stop bleeding, they can appear insignificant, and could definitely be missed on the grainy video released.I think people should be more willing to keep an open mind, seems to be an awful lot of "The Ox-bow Incident", hang him quick mentality.Cooler heads should prevail and let the facts be completely established. This is definitely a troubling incident which should be completely investigated.Too much of people throwing out half truths and speculation stated as fact, fueling an incendiary situation.

Anonymous said...

The forensic evidence has not been released yet. When it is, they should be able to say from what angle the bullet came, how far or close Zimmermann was to the victim etc.

He claims to have shot Martin while the kid was pinning him down....I would think, if the kid was that close to him....blood splatters would be visible on Zimmerman’s shirt and I seriously doubt they gave him a fresh shirt before they booked him.

Anonymous said...

Zimmerman's father claims that Martin beat his son in and about the head continually for over a minute, but the guy on the video was clearly NOT beaten badly or continually, and maybe not at all.

I have no doubt there was a scuffle, since Martin was fighting literally for his life in a situation that Zimmerman created and initiated.

The lead homicide detective Chris Sereno, did not believe Zimmerman's story and wanted to charge him with manslaughter. In addition, the mother of a 13 year old who is a potential witness stated that the same Chris Sereno stated to her that he “did not believe that was a case of self defense.”

But, State attorney Norman Wolfinger, who was recently recused from the case said NO.

Here's the million dollar question. Did Wolfinger have communications with George Zimmerman's father, a retired judge Robert Zimmerman as some have speculated?

Anonymous said...

I agree with 12:15PM, this doesn’t pass the “smell test.”

Some are claiming that Zimmerman was treated by an EMT before being detained. If so, why isn't the alleged cut(s) on the back of his head covered by a bandage? Why does his nose also have no bandage or display any signs of swelling or bruising? Where are the so called grass stains?

Where is the blood on the clothes? According to one version he shot Martin while he was on top of Zimmerman beating him. How is it possible that Zimmerman’s head was repeatedly smashed on the pavement and his nose broken as we’ve been told without showing some signs of blood? How would Trayvon Martin do this considering the length of Zimmerman’s hair?

Did the alleged EMT also launder and press his clothes? And why did previous reports say that Zimmerman denied treatment at the scene?

These are simple and legitimate common sense questions and observations, providing you have enough common sense to see in the first place.

I see a guy in the video who just got arrested for jaywalking, NOT someone who was allegedly fighting for his life.

Sorry, but the only “Oxbow” like incident I see is when George Zimmerman decided to stalk and execute an innocent person.

Anonymous said...

Once again, the video is grainy, wait until everything is released.I am not saying this guy is innocent,at the least he has been guilty of very bad judgement. However, like I posted above, read the crime report filed by the officer,I doubt that he thought right away, "gee that is the judges son, lets let him go"..in fact, they took him into custody and a five hr interview ensued. No high fives, or good job pal!As someone posted above, let the evidence of bullet angle, crime scene evidence etc be evaluated. Also,it has been reported by the media that the gun was returned to him immediately, according to the report, the officer held him at gunpoint and took it from him,and then placed it in evidence. And, yes,the oxbow incident does apply, because many people want this guy convicted without anything other than media "investigation".

I think it is more important to make sure the investigation is done thoroughly and correctly to ensure a conviction or exoneration occurred instead of bowing to the will of the media and people hyping race relations to make a quick arrest.

Troubling, unless maybe you want them to try you..to me,if the lead homicide investigator says file a charge, that is what should have happened, but now it will hopefully be carefully evaluated and the proper conclusion reached.I only suggest complete and thorough checking into the matter..
