WDT: Owens raises $214K, has $554K on hand

On a day when the newest Congressional hopeful is asking for $44 contributions in honor of her 44th birthday, the major party candidates for Congress continue to talk about their much larger war chests. A filing from Rep. Bill Owens shows the incumbent with over a half million dollars on hand. Republican Matt Doheny has also outlined six figure fundraising in the most recent quarter.
Issues and "love of country" are all well and good....but money is still the mother's milk of politics and this race will be free spending by both parties.

All Matt needs to do this time is keep his Mom's house looking good and he's a shoe in.

Umm...he's got to keep it a two way race.

I think Doheny comes across as text book politician: decent speaker but kind of slick, friendly but often fake, sociable but kind of creepy and sleazy, generous but self-promoting and selfish. I am so tired of it. Maybe a fresh start with a fresh candidate is the way to go. I will definitely pay attention to this primary. You never know. Matt hasn't even been in Washington yet and he already fits in a little too well for my more conservative ways.

It is nice to know what you think 11:03 but everyone else thinks you are a liar and don't really vote for Republicans...which makes you sleazy and creepy.

I agree with 11:03, so I guess not everyone thinks he is a liar. Doheny does a fine job standing in front of a crowd and delivering his message but one on one he seems insincere. I got the impression he was listening to me because he was supposed to listen to me and appear interested but deep down he truly believes he knows what is best for me and I don't. And the exaggerated laughs and back slaps add to the insincerity. It seems like an act.

Well its nice to hear from the plants, 8:55 and 11:03. You two sure be a balanced pair, referring to Doheney as "sleazy" and dishonest. And all this is based on your personal feelings. Great. Tell you what. Just go ahead and vote for the guy under Nancie Pelosi's desk. Mayb ethat will placate your "conservative" sensibilities. You two are very transparent liars. Instead of pretending to be conservatives and pretending to have a point of view on this, why don't you just ask Owens for a turn at the Queen.
