A 42 year old Carthage man didn't care about any "three strikes and you are out laws" on DWI. He was part of a small but persistent legion of boozers who don't care about the latest press release law on the matter.
These are people who don't care whether they have a license to be taken away from them. They drive anyway and there are lots of people on the road with no licenses. Some are drinkers, some are just people who don't see why they need permission to drive.
This past week, some Albany pols proposed this year's press release law....a three strikes and you lose the ability to get licensed measure.

Good to see you understand how stupid that proposed law is/was, and we have a prime example why, within a week.
Boy, that new "Three Strikes and You're Out" law sure makes me feel alot safer.
Kinda' like that law that says criminals can't have firearms either.
B b b but the answer, according to Dan and the Donkeys, is ONE MORE GUN LAW. You put one more law on them felons and they will fear the consequences. I can feeeeeel it. You know we're getting close.
Now you have something. The law doesn't work for anything if you think about it, when you have to deal with a hard core person who loves to break the law. Or a person who no longer has any fear of the law. For me and many others who just don't want to be in a cell with other men, well we do care. The law is for people who care. Not for many who don't.
Just because a nitwit or more get caught again and w/o a license does not mean we don't move to get them off the streets and from behind the wheel while drunk. We should never give up on making the roads safe from drunken drivers.
To try and defend drunken driving in any fashion the way some are about this issue is plainly irresponsible, IMV.
The point is, there are plenty of laws already on the books. Just like the gun laws, enforce what we have. Don't add more and more in an effort to make ourselves feel better. That has nothing to do with defending DWI. Hopefully, Dan, you know that.
But we could pile another on. Maybe make it illegal to drive drunk on Monday nights after a council meeting. Call it Dannie's Law. Might work.
