The big chatter at the Polar Bear Dip in Alexandria Bay was about more than Brittnee and more than the tens of thousands of dollars raised for the River Hospital.
What I was hearing was the sale of Bonnie Castle Resort (the hotel, marina, and restaurant) to the Garlock Family of Alex Bay. They are also related to the Fiacco's, well known restaurateurs from Potsdam.
Muffler empresario Don Cole has owned Bonnie Castle for years, but the resort hasn't been updated in years and what was the rage in the 70s and 80s is old and stuffy now.
I don't know all the details...that's up to the MSM to report on....but the facility is said to have sold for a song.
Today was a great day as a huge crowd packed the bar and waterfront for the Polar Bear Dip which featured lots of people but was punctuated by Internet sensation Brittnee Kriner and waitresses from Watertown's Tilted Kilt.
An organizer ask me to talk less about Brittnee and more about the Hospital.....Excuuuuse me....It was Brittnee's marketing that made the event even more successful. Nonetheless, we applaud the Hospital for their fight to survive.

Look at the numbers from past years and u can clearly see that B,s marketing didn;t necessarily make the event "more successful". The event has been "more successful" every year since the foundation and others got involved. And the organizer was right, it's not about Brittnee, skin or endowment, it's about the River Hospital!!! Keep ur perversions to Watertown!!
Bonnie Castle has been milked blind by management....there's nothing left but a moldy shell. Kinda like the Woodruff in days gone by.
Also sold in neighboring Clayton-----The Spa! (To Bella's)
--the Big M! (To Shur Fine?)
No matter how you feel about Brittnee and her inked over butt, she deserves all the credit for making this event successful. It has never been anything more than a local novelty event. Now it is much more.
I don't see in what way you have perversion as that crotchety old coot is referring? The only thing perverted is jumping into a cold river in February. When did being a red blooded American man become perverted? Only in the minds of sanctimonious genuine closet perverts.
How long will it take the Times to catch up to your breaking news?
Can't you just hear Junior & Gorman yelling to their reporters "see if there's anything to Graham's blog."
They used to say it ain't news until its in the Times. That was then. Now they say "wonder if the Times will ever catch up to that story."
Watch Channel 7 for followup-----maybe midweek.
Today's news.....eventually,some day, down the road, maybe, perhaps, in the print media.
Poor Jae---bet he's getting an ear-full! Great guy, but clueless as to what's going on along the river.
New motto: TODAY'S News: Well, maybe in a few days. And we'll get it half right, too!
The new grand hotel in Clayton will be a spike in ABay's coffin. Sad day for the Bay.
I'd say John B had somebody who was on it. A story will be written on Monday, approved by the end of the day. We should read about it on Tuesday. Remember, the teachers are off this week, so John B doesn't think there's any news to report.
The new hotel in Clayton won't be filled. Its a sad day for the taxpayer who ultimately will be footing the bill. Tax breaks and bs backhanded payouts will rule. We lose again. There isn't that much business to fill them. Ask the Riveredge.
Clayton hotel will be a different clientele. A-bay is for your Budafuco types and midlife Harley riders. Clayton is for the free stuff lawmaker types and school teachers.
Yes the new Grand Hotel built with how much taxpayers $$$$$$$$$$$?
I knkew never about the event until Brittnee came along! She indeed is the reason for it's success.
Glad to hear the Garlocks are the new owners of Bonnie Caslte. If anyone can bring that place back, it's them! Looking forward to see what they can do.
Let's count the days until the WDT catches on to the story....1..2..3..4..5....when?
Ask Larrie Aubertyne of the Clayton Development Corporation about the new hotel...he's really impressed that it will have one of them new fangled elevators that play music that sounds like its live..and machines that actualy make icecubes for his Utica Club....he's the K Kove coffeyshoppe sage on the subjick.
Schoolteacher types don't stay in hotels around here. They usually stay in Florida and the Bahamas. Why would any of them go to Clayton? Dumb.
Good luck to the Garlocks!
Atleast the new Bonnie won't be taxpayer funded. Glad I'm not a taxpayer in Clayton.
PS: Ask Edgewood, Bonnie, Northstar or anyone open about the off season revenues and expenses. Hopefully those pockets in Clayton are deep enough.
I'm glad that River Hospital had such a successful fundraiser. The T&A girl is certainly pretty; she'd be beautiful if she didn't vandalize herself with those unsightly tattoos. A reminder, everything eventually goes south including T&A & tattoos. lol
School teachers go to Clayton because they can't afford to go to Lake George. but as libruls they love quaint places with no convenient restrooms or parking and extra small business signs.
I believe Rotary Club paid for public restrooms on the main drag......built without a grant! No taxpayer $$$$$. O'm'gosh. Whadda concept.
I am sure they come in handy for the customers at Jrecks or the Koffee Kove or Attilios or...
How many Tax Dollars flow into the opera house?
No WDT story yet on the aforementioned sales!!! Surprised?
I think both towns offer a little different taste of the Thousand Islands and attract slightly different people. Both towns have a slightly different feel about them.
First I have heard the news of either hotel. Think that is exactly what Clayton needs no matter by whom or how it is getting funded. As far as Bonnie Castle, my husband and I can remember that place in its prime. Good luck to the Garlocks to bringing it back!
