Everybody sees the alcohol business as a quick buck and wants to dip into the biz' when they see a thirsty crowd....But as long as it's a business regulated and taxed as sin, I don't want governments or others masquerading as doing it for the children selling the Devil's brew....I know, it's self serving and duplicitous, but its the way I feel.
Fire Departments don't need bars like the one in Massena...I love our own smoke eaters and like having them there....but my deal is , I won't run into burning buildings, and they don't run bars when there are real ones nearby they could frequent.
Fair enough ? They could visit the nearby Hotel Nadeau bar managed by Mayor Hidy and co-owned by the Town Supervisor.

Right you are Jeff, You have to wonder why they have bars, Of course in Adams Center a few years ago they had a Stripper in Full uniform, but hey its just money.
Hmmm when your ox is the one being gored...
To Anonymous at 5:59, just to clarify your statement, Adams Center FD had strippers(male twice, female once) 3 times, last time being in 1990, and they were held in the Firemans Hall a seperate building from the fire station which was sold 13 years ago, so think you are kinda reaching here, we used horses back in the day to but times change. NEVER was there a bar in the same building as trucks and a strict policy against any alcohol use and responding to calls has been in place for 25+ years and strictly enforced. Alcohol and emergency responders do not mix and any department that allows alcohol on their property is doing their taxpayers a huge disservice and they should be asking questions to the governing body why it is allowed.
As someone who knows the fine firemen in Massena, that bar is not designed to make a quick buck. They host a banquet or two for sports teams, and, in general just keep the beer for the boys inside. They don't vend it. What's next, people can't build a small bar in the basement of their homes and have a house party. I also did not read where proceeds were raised to benefit children. Also, it is a VOLUNTEER department up there. Can't we all just worry about our own little city down here?? SHEESH
Hey ACFD so it did happen? Doesnt matter in the 90's BUT IT DID HAPPEN.
Sure it did, there were 2 male revues and 1 female revue, last one in 1990. They were fundraisers and raised more money than any other event. Had better turnout from the community for those than any other fundraiser we did. The male revues drew far more of a crowd than the females. Its not a big secret, it was advertised heavily so not sure what you are trying to prove. Were held in a privatley owned building that was owned by the corporation that no tax money paid for. was paid for through Bingo and other fundraisers and same building sheltered and fed the community through many natural disasters so not really sure what point you are trying to make.
So they have a Firemans hall? What the Hell is that?
