Owens Taking a Hit Over SOPA

Obamacare, the deficit, Iran....the typical issues a guy like Matt Doheny might talk about in his bid to unseat Rep. Bill Owens.....
Along comes something called SOPA...the Stop On-line Piracy Act....a sweeping measure intended to stop theft of Hollywood work product.....
It also pretty much stymies the whole Internet by allowing anyone to shut down anyone else by mearly alleging theft of copyrighted product.
Suddenly free marketeers on the right and Internet nerds on the left are joining forces and beating the stuffing out of Mr. Owens and other Members of Congress who support the measure.
For Mr. Doheny, it's a chance to have a Kumbaya moment with President Obama who has rapped the law.
Today, the Internet giant GOOGLE put a black box on its site to show solidarity with stop SOPA folks.
In politics you never know when an issue will rise up and bite you in the ass.

He should take a hit for (again) not hearing the voters in NY telling him it's a bad law and we don't want it. He did the same on OB health care. Many NYs called him and said don't vote yes. He still voted yes.

By the way....I didn't vote for OB. I voted for the Rep. I have always done my best to support our President anyway. I just didn't pull the lever for him.

Democrats love laws that start with assuming you are guilty and working backwards from their.

Its a government solution to a problem. Why should we be surprised that Owens/Pelosi is in favor of it.

Owens has to support the bill. He is being told to by his Democrat leaders. This will be a first step towards regulation, and billing, for internet use. Enjoy. In a couple years you will be writing out another check for surfing the net. Thanks to stooges like Owens.

Exactly so, CR. Next thing Owens will be telling us again that we WANTED this internet control law. He will lie about it just as he did with ObamaCare. He obviously got his call from the Donkey leadership telling him what to say. He has all the courage of an Italian ship captain.

Two issues conflicting (piracy vs. Internet freedom).

For political reasons, the point making has begun with no middle in sight. What's new about that?

"... President Obama who has rapped the law."

Deja vu all over again! POTUS rapped the NDAA as well...just before he signed it into law.

Some day Americans will awaken to the realization they should have judged the political claas by their actions not their words...but by then it will be too late.

Just like the Anointed One and his party did with health care. Before barfing up overbearing legislation, they failed to address the different issues. So in some respects I agree, Dannie. Without tort reform, there could be no meaningful changes in health care. But because your party is so completely owned by lawyers, that didn't slow you down a bit.

Hey I'm for ending piracy. Countrys like China take and take all day long. They give back nothing. Okay they gave us a loan at a big payback to them. Still they take more then they give. BUT, that should be put to that kind of level. Between our country and theirs. Step into the light and tell China.....Pay up bitch.

I don't wear tin-foil on my head all the time. Still this law looks like it could be twisted to some bad crap. Any law the government can twist is a bad law. Because they will twist it.

CR: it's not just China -- stealing other people's work © is worldwide - stopping it is harder than flying to the Moon.
