Nelson Takes Over NYCOM Helm

Congrats are in order to Mayor Bill Nelson of Ogdensburg for his ascension to the top spot at the New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM). This is the primary lobbying and support group for the state's cities and villages.
Mayor Nelson takes over as President after years of activism in the group.
I was chatting with Bill the other day as we have a common challenge to address, and I hope the network NYCOM has can be a help to both of us.
Despite all the sniping Hizzoner takes in the Maple City, his role at NYCOM is a big deal and he deserves a pat on the back.

YEP, Nelson is a GREAT leader and role model for NYSCOM. He has lead Ogdensburg to a 25% population decline, loss of jobs, and has been barely re-elected twice by absentee ballots.

Hopefully, he won't destroy NYSCOM as well.

Actually, Ogdensburg should be proud to have the presidency of New York's Conference of Mayors. As its leader, he has an automatic in with all the state's top officials. He gets to testify before the legislative committees that consider policies on housing, environmental matters like Brownfields, economic development and everything else that affects his community. Most communities can only wish for that kind of access to the state's top policy makers.

Really???

The"movers and shakers " of Albany are REALLY going to be impressed when they meet Mayor Nelson of Ogdensburg. The savior of beautiful downtown Ford Street.

Are we living in a remake of"The Wizard Of Oz?"...Gee whiz Toto... If only the head custodian of CHMC had a brain.
