With the left and right walking away from SOPA and PIPA legislation, New York's junior senator remains a big supporter of anti piracy legislation that many see as a threat to the growth and creativity of the Internet.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand claims the bills need "tinkering".

Hmmm, I'll just wager that Ole Goomer Schumer is a big fan of this bill, too. Gillibrand can't wipe her fanny without asking Schumer's permission first. Typical left wing stance. Never mind how bad the bill is, Pass it anyway and then we'll "fix" it, but for heavens sake PASS A BILL!!!!
And the Republicans can't find decent candidates to run against these two charachters? Doesn't say much for the Republican party in N.Y., does it? Or the voters of the State either, for that matter.
What a Chuck Puppet.
Who isn't against pirates?
This is supposed to be about copyrights, not pirates.
But it is just another guilty until proven innocent, invasion of privacy librul law.
So no thanks.
Not to mention that intellectual property rights are already too strict. The idea of protecting the rights is to encourage people to produce intellectual property. Now you explain to me how the laws help that the way they are currently written? for instance the descendants of MLK still own his famous speech. What did those people have to do with writing that speech? Nothing.
9:10 The important thing to remember is Gillibrand's fanny is smaller than it used to be. That makes her a leader worthy of our complete respect. That's your Democrat party at work. They provide, you swallow.
This bill does not need
"tinkering," -- it needs a narrow focus and scope to accomplish two things and not necessarily at the same time in the same bill:
1. Put forth rules to stop and punish international pirating of © info (hint: there are strong law already at various levels) - just ask the megaupload guys.
2. Ensure the internet remains free and open and not censored.
Sen. Gillibrand is a whimp on this issue as she has been on several others ... she is always looking for an easy way out w/o causing too many waves ... funny, I always thought a NY/US senator was more principled and stronger than that ...
I meant to include this link to my post about no need for SOPA or PIPA or anything new... we already have a strong law in place -- one that President Bush signed into law... it is working just fine. See below.
Bush Signs Pro-Ip into Law.
For those interested in the facts. SOPA not needed as it now stands.
Hey Harry, did you see that? Dannie said something good about a Republican. Yeah, Bernie, I heard it too. It can't be. But if no now law was needed why did Owens/Pelosi and the rest try to push something through? I don't know Harry. All I know is I'm all confused.
Anon 11:55 and Harry - I often say good things about GOPers - maybe not here, but elsewhere when things are good and working...
FYI: My Mother was a lifelong GOPer, too as was my Grandfather (Dad's side)... I also voted for Nixon in '72 - but regretted it later as most did in those days... so, what's your point.
I stand for good policy and people; not bomb-throwing a-holes... finis.
Dannie, you should have learned more from you Mother. The vote you really should have regretted was the one for LBJ. He's the one who punched your ticket to the Vietnam motor pool.
