City police like all of us are waiting for the snow certain to come and are urging caution by motorists.
In particular, Chief Joe Goss is warning those wheelchair operators to stay off the roads in winter as they pose a danger to themselves and others.
Property owners are reminded to do their part by clearing walks.
Before any of us can use all the good advice, we need some snow and forecasts suggest little of that, at least through Christmas.

It seems twice in a week that the police should just keep their mouth shut. It is not politically correct to tell a disabled person they cannot do something. And its not right for them to come out in favor of dog laws or against them either.
Before that it was Burns with a public political statement about a county legislator and his opinion on how to run the jail. This Obama thing about liking to hear yourself talk is catchy.
The dog law and the jail I can see. But asking folks to stay on the sidewalk?
Yes they are such a pain in the ass when you see them riding in the roads. But how can they get around if they don't in some areas? Some people still have crap for sidewalks. Others (many others) don't clear them on any regular fashion. I got to say this wasn't planned enough.
How about school aged teenagers staying out of the road. And parents parking on BOTH SIDES of the road while picking up their overweight, cell phone having, to lazy to walk home little darlings.
Kudos to the chief
If anyone bothered to read the newspaper article,he was asking pedestians and wheelchair users to utilize the sidewalk when possible, and took into account snow conditions..he didn't come out and say so,but the street can be icy before public works gets to them, increasing stopping distances for vehicles..think it's wrong to be knocking him for looking out for those people..
Now 7:46, why would anyone be tempted to read anything in the local newzpaper? We're still waiting for JB to explain how a tax increase is a tax cut.
