Corporate restaurants, bars and stores continue to show interest in the City's burgeoning western border. Now it's a Chipotle Mexican Grill reportedly looking at the Donegan property where a Five Guys burger joint is due to open soon.
The amount of development in this area is staggering and its the antithesis of the locally owned neighborhood businesses, but it seems to be what many people want. It also makes Exit 45 a destination for regional shoppers and visitors.
We will see where it all goes from here, but if more housing is built on outer Arsenal Street, there may be more sprawl to the west.

The housing has to be put on the west side of 81.Otherwise,no one will ever get through Arsenal or Coffeen Streets
And all getting the help from the JCIDA I'll bet.
Just what the area needs! More cheap payrolls too keep people in a state of squalor. Everyones unable to pay the outrageous rents the area has to offer now thanks too fort drum. So lets help them out more by welcoming more crappy paying jobs too keep our kids down and unable to become successful and the gi happy.
You know no one is going to pat you and the city leaders on the back. I will. You and the rest of them have worked so hard to bring this this city back to life and back onto a great future. Thanks you from the Lear family to you.
Have a Merry Christmas Mr. Mayor.
BTW, it's Chi-pot-el
not chi-pole-tee.
Just like the peppers.
9:59 Out of six possible uses for the use of to, too and two, you screwed up three of them. Not good. C'mon, between teacher conferences and free graduate school credit hour finger paint fests we spend a gazillion dollars on education. Reap the benefits. Otherwise, your thoughts were reasonable.
They are actually dried/smoked chili peppers, or more specifically a jalapeno.
I’ve been using chipotle peppers for years as I am an incurable “chili head.”
If you stew them in a tomato sauce it becomes “adobo” a type of marinade and seasoning mixture.
Good stuff… if you like moderate heat combined with flavor.

Do you have a special agreement with CrazyRay? It's to the point of borderline creepy. Anyway, I don't think anyone is blaming this on the Mayor, or the growth, or anything else. The Mayor's position is one of suggestion and guidence that has been stated very plainly throughout the past year. He has no real affect on growth or whoever comes in here. So to defend Ray, the Mayor does not choose who comes here or who doesn't. Nor does he or should he take credit for anything.
Watertown Area is in need of a decent Mexican-style restaurant.
Thank you Mayor for making the tough but right infrastructure choices in years past that have allowed this recent development in that area.
I like Tico's on the square. They are trying to make it. Support them.
I'll have to agree with 11:13. Actually Tico's is a very good Mexican restaurant, but the reason some folks don't go is because they've never had Mexican food and don't know what to order.
Get the "Sample Plate", some chips, salsa and Guacamole dip, and a nice Dos Equis cerveza. Yum, Yum!
When it's time to move-up, get the Carne Asada and "Roll your Own."
The problem with some of you is all you see is your little part of this planet. Your little job. Your little street. Your little spot in the universe. Some can see a bigger picture. A real future for this little city. We now have rather large hotels. We have places for people to come and visit. Not just the Mall. The Square is coming back around. Watertown center is booming. The town of Watertown is on fire. Why would anyone want to make that into a bad thing? Sorry if I was upbeat. You need negative? We still have the crows. Is that enough for you? We still have people selling drugs. Good? We still have old empty houses. Wow, that alone must give you a stiff one. Is that enough?
People who only see the bad can only be the bad in my book. If this area is so bad for you. Move on. The rest of us will stay and make something out of it. Take some of the drug dealers with you when you go.
PEOPLE, don't ruin Ray's little world!! Right on 6:24. Ray, your skin is getting thin, the election is over man.
Ray's getting crabby, must be hes sick of paying taxes.
