There seem to be as many polls as there are people likely to vote in the Iowa caucuses, but it's becoming clear the Mitt Romney strategy of plodding along as others come and go from the spotlight is working. Mr. Romney will likely be either first or second in the Hawkeye State and his only real challenger is Ron Paul, who has a limited appeal and is an unlikely nominee.
Assuming a straight up Romney-Obama contest in 2012, I still think the President takes it by four points.

well, well, well ... look who managed to find "Ron Paul" on his keyboard afterall. Must have been really quite painful.
"limited appeal", certainly, but then now more than 1/3 of the colonialists supported separation from the Crown. 'Kooky' James Otis is forgotten but it was he changed the argument from the power of the State to the Rights of Man.
"unlikely nominee", give ya that, too, but in some sense the battle is already won: The "status quo" is both on the defensive and yet indefensible.
The only thing more indefensible than the status quo is Ron Paul's philosophy.
Putting us on the gold standard would be so dumb as the Hunt brothers proved precocious metals can be the most fickle fiats of all.
The Fed is not to be trusted? Then who? It is the president that devalued the dollar on 01/31/1934 by over 40%.
And what are his real thoughts on federal Civil rights acts? His flippant answer or his floppant answer the next day?
It is okay for Iran to have Nukes? That may be but a lot of people don't agree with that.
Iranian nukes will end up killing a lot of people. North Korea was one thing. A nut case government in the Middle East is another altogether.
