Perry: Obama Should Have Held Parade to Honor Iraq Troops

Rick Perry is asking a question others have ask...With the withdrawal from Iraq complete, should there have been parades for the returning troops ?....The Pentagon has said it sends a mixed message since troops are still fighting in nearby Afghanistan. Governor Perry says it political and that Democrats who opposed the Iraq War don't want to celebrate the withdrawal.
Parades sometimes seem to be more for the politicians than the troops....I wonder if after all those tours over there, troops aren't just interested in seeing home and family. They worked hard and deserve a break.....not a show...
There are other ways you can show your appreciation...like by just saying 'thank you.'

Ironic, isn't it? The GOP blasts Obama for not holding a parade for the troops -- the same troops, BTW that the GOP wanted to keep in Iraq awhile longer.

Yes there should be the big parade with full dress by the President and all the hoop-la. No mater how you see the job in the first place, our troops did it well. They deserve the biggest thank you any one has ever recieved.

Would be a wonderful opportunity for the africian queen to wear another of her designer frocks.

About as ironic as "we support the troops but are against the war", Danny.

Oh Dannie, stifle yourself. If we had followed your party's advice, we would have declared the effort a defeat and everyone would have been declared a loser. And Iraq would have had no chance. Wait, isn't that what we did with your war? Now I understand why you're upset. It must stick in your craw the way the outcome was so different than your experience.

The Donkeys called it an immoral war. "This war is lost", said Harry Reid. They tried to defund it while our guys were in the fight. And now these same people call for supporting the troops and thanking them for their sacrifice. They now want credit for what they tried to undermine. Only a Dannie type could defend this kind of dishonesty.

Sure that's what a big part of this messed up country wanted to do. Call it a draw, or a big defeat. Most of America want's our country (for some messed up reason they have) to be defeated. I have no love for Dan, but attacks about the war he was in are just wrong. Please have some kind of manners. Thousands of young Americans came home in boxs, lost limbs, and some their minds. Who in the hell thinks that's funny? Same as this war. Many come out of the day war to yell and the guns come out, all happy. But not many show up at the end to say good job, can I help you get home? Win or lost, all the troops need right now is a hand to grab. So instead of getting all over Dan (who may never have had a hand offered to him), offer a hand to a returning soldier today.

Memo for the Anonymous dumbf**k crowd: The ones who hide behind that moniker while blasting posters here in a constant personal attack mode. Listen up:

Try reading my posts for what they are not who I am, or worse, who you think I am ... jeez. Give that dead horse a break and put away the whip.

At least make a New Year's resolution to read English more clearly or take a class in comprehension.

CR, no one, at least not me, criticized the soldiers of the Vietnam era. But I find it difficult to see how bending over, as we did in Dannie's day, would have been an advisable course of action in Iraq. But if we had following Dannie's party, that is exactly what we would have done, again. The way to have wars is to convince an adversary that they have something to gain. Dannie started this discussion with a typically stupid and partisan statement implying that support for continuing the war effort was a slight to the men in the fight. I submit bending over, failing to support the effort, allowing the soldiers to die for nothing and encouraging our enemies to fight another day, is far worse than continuing to fight and win. Just because we failed to do so in the past is not justification for doing so now. If Obama and his ilk would have had his way, Iran would already control all of the Middle East and would be poised on Israel's borders. And Dannie would again be telling us that running away did some good. I don't see it that way. And Dan, this is about what you are saying, NOT who you are. The fact that you are motivated solely by partisanship has nothing to do with this discussion. That's just a sidebar. Don't feel too sorry for yourself. And again, please refrain from the profanity.

What will the removal of all our troops from Iraq and ultimately Afghanistan do? It will allow the enemy to take over and make it worse than before.
We are still in Germany 66 years after WWII! We are still in Japan and Korea. Hmmmmm.
Remember it was Clinton's idea for a "regime change" in Iraq, supported by many european countries and our entire Senate and Congress, not just President Bush!

Well if you were just making fun of the man...okay.

You are so right about not leaving. BUT.....The skirt wearing ruling class over there wanted us out. They forced us out. So as they see on some of the first days ruling alone....It sucks. All of a sudden bombs are going off again in the streets. People are at their doors agin with hate. Tribes are after other tribes again. See that's what we should have changed over there. No more fracking tribes. That's the whole problem in the Middle East. TRIBES. No one people. Just several stupid sand loving tribes. I hate your tribe, you hate mine. Let's fight. Our armys should have had speakers going all the time telling the sand-people that they were one people and one country, day till night. Till they believed it. Maybe play Panama over and over till they get it?

CR, I thinks much of this is inspired by the Iranians. That is a country we will have to deal with. We can run just so long. The soldiers we lost were killed more by IED's from IRAN than any other source. We talked, we never really did anything. We can fight, to win. Or we can run. But we can't stand there and pretend it isn't happening.

CR, I was thinking about what you were saying about tribes. In a way, we're getting the same way here in the US. We've split up so much along self-interest lines we're become tribal too. We have a president who has us on the brink of economic disaster, and he has a reasonably good chance of being reelected. Why? Because one "tribe" likes FreeStuff. Who can blame him. His entire campaign is based on one tribe hating another, or at least being jealous of what the other tribe has. One tribe is not paying their fair share, while the other tribe, which pays nothing, is somehow being persecuted. It isn't about the good of the country anymore, it's about MY TRIBE. You are so right, CR. We just have to decide what tribe is more important to us. Good thing kids don't have a tribe of their own. Even though all we do is "for the children". Their tribe is really getting screwed with this Obama guy.

You know you hit on the real problem this country has. Blind love for a party. I agree. Just voting the party line. Just pulling the lever marked with what you were told was the correct choice. Television told you to vote the party line. That's how we did end up with the man in the White House. Hell that man had some smart people behind him. They put him all over the news, popular tv, and the net. Where the hell did these smart people go when he took office? Maybe he fired them?

It was cool and fashionable to vote Obama. The man with no record, no accomplishments. But he was a little bit black, and that made the guilty feel better about whatever it is they feel guilty about. Media had whipped the hatred of GW up to an art form, and now Obama does just what many hated about Bush. Guantanimo is still open, the wars continued. They had to. But Obama spent like no tomorrow. Now, there really isn't. But me and Dannie, we got ours. So screw you.
