This is more media than anything...How many people are really upset over Denver QB Tim Tebow expressing his gratitude to God for his latest good fortunes on the gridiron ?
In media where one network trumpets the "War on Christmas" as something that is really happening, the matter of personal faith becomes something to talk about....there is no prohibition on the mixing of religion and football and displays of faith are part of the diversity in views on religion.
I don't mind the end zone dances the NFL tries to outlaw in order to be sensitive to the feelings of others.....I don't get upset over Tebow....but I am excited over his style of play and the 5-1 record it has produced.
Displays of faith put Tebow in spotlight – USATODAY.com

I wonder what faith has to do with football. Anyone that would do that is not displaying faith but displaying they like attention a little too much.
Whatever motivates a person is their call. It would be much easier for Tebow to keep quiet about his beliefs. That way he wouldn't be subjected to the people who hate religion.
Honestly,he kneels and points at the sky on sidelines after a td? So what, ignore it you want, the kid is thanking God for his gifts of the physical and mental ability to play the game, and play it well..why the heck does anyone care what someone else believes about God..unless they are so bitter about life, they want this good kid to fail..
As a Bills fan it pisses me off that my god who i pray to every night and twice on sundays is a freaking Broncos fan.
Why care about what others may think, Tebow is being himself; what is so wrong about believing in one's self?
The majority of us support his right to talk about his religion and practice it. But no one believes he is doing it on the field because of his faith. He is doing it just to be a douche
we're all douches to somebody else....
"No one believes" says 7:26? Unfortunately, Mr Douche, billions of people do believe. That really bothers you, doesn't it? Why is that such a threat to you? Why are you so afraid that you take this as a cause to attack people?
I believe in having sex with my girlfriend. But if my employer told me not to do it on company time/property, I would have to oblige. What is so hard for the right wing wackos to understand about that?
Just like the libtards and their race card and homophobe card, the right wing wackos pull out the religion-phobe card. Jessy Jackson would be proud of you...the rest of us think you are douches.
I would agree with you 726 if the kid went to the middle of the field,or the end zone, and made a big production out of it..instead he goes to the sideline, bows his head then points at the sky..is it much different from the yankee outfielder who points at the sky for his grandmother when he hits a homer,or any number of other displays by athletes..the difference is he believes his gifts come from God and he makes a small gesture OFF the field, granted the media makes much of it,but I sure can't hate this kid for doing his best and sticking to his convictions..
Interesting comment in a letter to O'Reilly tonight. A lady asked why athletes routinely get arrested, flip off cameramen and use profanity in public, but when an athlete drops to his knee in thanks he is villified. Strange. If all he did was yell MF this and that and did underaged girls, there would be no controversy.
It is OK for a multi-millionaire athlete to point up to you-know-who when making a touchdown but all of them in all the sports and TV stars should also write a 2 million dollar check to their Uncle Sam and help with our deficit. So you are a great runner or thrower - so what - the fans can't afford to buy tickets for their kids to see the games anymore.
