The political class cost 164 residents in Lewis County their most precious right in a free society.....Their vote..
Due to haggling over nominations for judge for the Independence Party line and then due to a printing error by the Board of Elections, voters inadvertantly were marking their votes for Supreme Court justice on the Indy line although a court earlier had ruled there are no valid candidates nominated by that minor party on Line E of the ballot.
The error was discovered during the day Tuesday and a notice was placed at each polling place.
The reaction will be "oops, so what" but the impression voters get is "does my vote matter ?"
What if this had happened in Onondaga County, where the number of lost votes might have mattered ?
Voters are told 'too bad Charley'.

The Boe exsists at the need of the 2 major parties. Time for reform, Odd this is an office open year around so what do they do in the off years?
Absolutely unbelievable. Both Commissioners were asleep at the switch. No excuse for them not finding the error when the ballots came in. They should both resign.
Nah, they won't resign. It's kinda like free money. I'm sure they get state retirement benefits for working that year. Who would give that up. It's not as good as a Junie O'Neil deal, where taxpayer money just gets mailed to her for no reason at all, but it's a good thing anyway.
No, your vote "doesn't matter.
It if did matter it would be illegal to vote.
It is another American ritual intended to keep the natives quiet by providing the illusion of control.
There is no question who the people wanted to vote for. Throwing out the votes based on what line they chose for doing so is something that would never hold up under the scrutiny of real constitutional law.
Why wouldn't they call those votes the same as a write in? You can write in anyone..... I don't see the difference.
you havent complained about the lack of a DEm line in the Cape.....
The Cape vote is based on what the people of Rochester want. That place has sold out and will forever be a political joke because of it. It's a place for Rochester people to park their single wides and take a dump.
1:22 is mad because BP can't take a dump on the Cape so easily as he would like.
And Yeah, Graham complained about no dem line, right here on this blog.
Hell don't you think the same Rotten-chester crap didn't go down in Lewis too? Take a look at some of the numbers. What do you think the people there wanted?
