Newzjunky.com : New Car Sales Boom in Jefferson County

This is one of these funny stories that is very revealing of the local economy but seldom gets covered except in the summary form on Newzjunky. New car sales are booming and are at the highest level since 2006. Over 500+ newbies were registered last month. I am glad for all my friends at FX who seem to be doing the best since opening separate Kia, VW and Chrysler/Jeep stores on the strip in Watertown.
The surge in auto sales means something is going right locally.

Doesn't this simply mean something is going right on the military front?

The correct measure of "something is going right" would be an increase in productivity (& a corresponding increase in the number of workers involved in manufacturing, farming, mining, forestry, etc) & an increase in capital savings, e.g., the creation of wealth.

If - as I suspect - your auto sales figure is directly related to Federal welfare transfer payments to The Ruling Class then you are overlooking the unseen future damage to everyone.

Ex: 500 cars purchased by air-brake workers would be wonderful news for it signifies a rise the creation of wealth. 500 cars purchased by gov't workers is a short-term benefit to a limited few and is overall destructive of wealth because the tax-payer ultimately has to pay the bill.

All gov't spending is parasitical; no matter the reason, each dime spent by gov't is a dime (plus interest) removed from the productive, wealth-creating, private sector.

Not all gov't spending is "bad" but if you do not create the wealth necessary to cover the costs then you can afford neither the parasites nor the illusion that "something is going right".

You want prosperity? End these evil, unneeded, wars & shut the Empire down.

No the Mayor is correct. You put 500 cars and trucks on the road locally and you add so much more. Taxs, people buying fuel, and so much more. We all see a boom.

The Ruling Class? What the hell is that guy talking about? I think I'm back in the 60's.

Indead...shut the Empire down is correct. Look at my friends the Romans...The Greeks...Every past Empire...The minute they no longer cared to expand and keep up what they had....They flew away in the dust.
