MTV ‘Real World’ Wants to Cast Occupy Wall Street Protesters | TPM Idea Lab

The side show that occupy Wall Street has become has caught the interest of the entertainment with MTV trying to cast protestors for it's "Real World" reality program. America loves a show.
While these demonstrations have not come to Watertown yet, I did get word there is a Facebook page touting an effort to organize such a demonstration on Public Square.....Don't worry, I doubt such an endeavor will get off the ground here but even if a dozen people show up, it will get covered.
Another reason there likely will not be a protest is people are not that unhappy with the economy. There are individuals who face challenges, but in the aggregate, there doesn't seem enough angst over the 1% versus the 99%.

Have you noticed that there aren't a lot of blacks among the Occupy folks? That must mean they are racists. At least that's what we'd be hearing if they were Tea Party demonstrations.

Oh...Now they "are not that unhappy." Just a short time ago, when you were the Teabagger's Teabagger, it was all about the economy and jobs. Hypocrite!

Considering the OWS movement is less than five weeks old and it already it has a wider cultural range than the misguided and corporate owned bag-heads hardly means “they are racists.”

On the contrary -- as the movement grows so will its diversification. You can count on it.

The better question is; why after three years does the one-dimensional t-party still lack cultural diversification?

Check back in a couple of years with something to substantiate your divisive drivel and then you might have a point…

Frankly, that wasn’t even a very good try -- your slipping.

We have to admit that the Occupiers are admitted racists. there are no blacks allowed in their little parties, and certainly not at their after hours upscale dinners that complete their hard working days on the bitch line. The fact that they hate Jews is somewhat acceptable in today's cool crowd. At least that's ok with the Obama lovers. But to exclude blacks is troublesome. This really hurts my feelings. Maybe we could get some of our regulars who are skilled at recognizing racism to explain how this is happenin'. So young, so progressive, so smart, so racist. How can it be?

I was in New York City two weeks ago and attended one of the General Assembly meetings in Liberty Park (Zuccotti Park) with nearly two thousand other OWS participants. I wanted to experience for myself what this movement was all about.

Not only were many blacks and Jews present, so was just about any other ethnic group and demographic you can think of. In fact, all were encouraged to participate and were treated as equals. Also, it is my understanding that at least one of the originators of this movement is Jewish.

I also talked to Democrats, Republicans, people on the left, right, Libertarians, Socialists, a lot of Independents, Veterans, several Ron Paul supporters, a few Tea Party members and even less Obama enthusiasts. I was quite amazed and impressed at how well everyone got along.

In contrast, I have attended several Tea Party rallies in the past, and as much as I loath to say it, I saw very few; if any, minorities.
