WDT:Sen. Ritchie introduces bill requiring one president per SUNY campus

A continuing "food fight" over how many college presidents in the Big County has prompted legislation to reverse a SUNY move to combine top administration at Canton and Potsdam.
I say if those attending Canton want a separate $200K president in the faculty lounge, then add a few bucks to their tuition.

What do you expect from a RINO?
She wants the SUNY president to be paid with OPM (other peoples money.Of course she cannot support raising the sales tax rate to the normal prevailing rate that all the other counties are paying.

Some colleges have more than one campus. Jamestown, Monroe...better get hiring.

I wonder if the Tug Hill Commission tells her to do this kind of thing at the wine and cheese parties?

She really has been a disapointment hasnt she.. I dont know about the Rino label but she best watch out for the Republican darling leeking in the shawdows. If beaten in the mayoral race this year Nelson will oppoe Ritchie in a primary in the fall of 2012 ... lTake that to the bank folks..

One more skunk politician joining the surfeit stinking up this state. And not one cent of their retirement pension will be taxed by NYS.

Wish the mmm folks over at the Watertown times would get it right once. No one knows who the one president for both colleges will be. SUNY hasn't told us yet. Maybe it will be Mayor Graham.

I agree with the criticism of MsRitchie. Just as she did when she advocated for Tug Hill Commission, she now supports status quo on another attempt to control spending. I admit it, this is the second big mistake and the second strike against her. I am surprised and disappointed. I do not know who is advising her on this one, but they are wrong, again. This is not good.

Remember the overtime she wanted to rack up when it got hot this summer at our public beaches? It took our liberal governor to hold her back on her spending spree.

Remember when Jefferson country finally got her support to keep their sales tax rate? the same day they had to cough up millions for housing...by coincidence of course!

Aren't there any men in St Lawrence county that can run for office?

I was certainly one who advocated giving the lady a chance. If this is any indication, we are in trouble.

I'm still waiting for my STAR rebate check. You know, the one she didn't promise would be restored, the one she flat out SAID would be restored.

Ritchie said what people wanted to hear to get elected and she's not come through with one of her campaign promises. She was going to get rid of all the sin taxes, remember?

She turned out to be a big disappointment. Far too liberal for the north country.

2:08 Take this to the bank. Scorria stays and Nelson out by a big margin. His political career will be deemed failure with his waterfront plan and competing with business. Nice guy but time to go. I do not think Mcgrath will be anything special but Nelson beets himself on this one.

SUNY system Board needs to pull the string and fire the SUNY president for failure to support the system . You are either part of the system and loyal or you are not .

He is 65 years old, Enough already , -- RETIRE

SUNY needs the opportunity to bring in more cost effective leadership and enhance programming while streamlining operations and eliminating redundant overhead. 2 colleges 10 miles apart with smal enrollment is not sustainable

The Canton "FATcats only " WANT to PROTECT THEIR SALARIES AND BENNIES and NOT INTERESTED IN recognizing the major deficits and the tremendous HIT taxpayers have undertaken for years to maintain these small "fiefdoms and Imperial presidencies .

IMHO The SUNY BOARD OF TRUSTEES SHOULD EXERCISE THEIR REGIHTFUL AUTHORITY AND PULL THE PLUG

Almost like Pattyplates stand (and AJR, and BB) on lending money to the Hudsonriver/Reg District(the area is flooded so they might need to keep this end of it) nothing was said about the former director spending taxpayer$$$$$$$$$$$$ unwisely, But sending money downstate is a no-no in her book. This is because both parties want a place for their appointees.
