After talking with a lot of people and watching the Farmer's Market, I agree with Councilwoman Burns that dogs should be banned, or at least muzzled, at the event. For those few hours every Wednesday there are too many people, especially small children packed into the two block area on Washington Street.
Organizers of the event and observers of that stretch of sidewalk agree. There have been other incidents besides the recent mauling of a two year old.
As a long time dog owner, I have learned there are places you bring your dog....and places you do not...

Can we PLEEEEZE call it Fido's Law? At least then we can get some national coverage for our dogoodedness.
Will the State make that decision or the City or the Chamber or the County or the Tug Hill Commission or maybe even the Deevelopment Authority of the North Country? Or we can get that group of faculty layabouts to decide on it when they meet up at JCC. Any way it goes, I figure we should study this thing for years and years and git a grant to look into all aspects of doggie attacks. Do it the NY way. Spend some bucks.
Just ban the ones that the owners cannot carry.
8:36am......Hi Mike....still out there trying to save us....Good for you.
Are you talking kids, 8:45? In that case I'm with you all the way. No more snot nosed kids running around bothering our dogs.
No 10:37, the subject was and is, clearly about dogs.
OK, never mind.
