I watched a good chunk of the debate last night in Tampa between the big eight candidates for the GOP Presidential nomination. Rick Perry held his own...Michelle Bachmann was aggressive...the also ran candidates did well, and Mitt Romney was well served by his knowledge of issues.
This debate changed nothing.

They have to attack him. He's the frontrunner. He's the biggest threat to the Annointed One. We have to hate him more than the others. That would change immediately if the lead would change. None of this has anything to do with issues. It is about hating the guy that threatens the Chosen One.
Newt excels in debate format.
Ron Paul makes SOME good points.
Perry should have done better at Tea Party event. Bachman stole some of his thunder.
Romney was solid and continues to improve his delivery.
They did a good job pointing out what a fake and a nut Perry is but like you say it does no good and changes nothing. Mitt and Newt are the best choices.
For the next debate I would like to see each and every candidate perform a trick of some kind... juggling, knife throwing, an acrobatic stunt...no circus is complete without them.
I hate whichever one is in the lead. The rest I hate just a wee bit less.
As far as stunts, 2:02, it would be tough to beat the comedy act we already have in the White House.
