Mayor Michael Bloomberg is certainly accomplished in the business world, so maybe he knows what he is talking about when he predicts rioting in the streets over the current economy and the nine percent plus unemployment......
People are uneasy, but its a long way to taking to the street in a country slathered in I-phones, mega televisions, and rampant consumerism.
Most people are still too comfy. However in some areas and among some demographics, there will be problems. High teen and minority unemployment will lead to more and more petty thefts as people with no money and time on their hands start to ask, "why do others have, and I don't"?
Shoplifting, burglary, and more drugs are just some of the small pathologies that one will see. To suggest there will be Cairo-style riots overstates the case, but yes there is a downside to current frustrations.

Look whats going on in Jefferson County, St Lawrence County is next. Home invasions will be the norm especially around Christmas, Get your CCW before its to late.
• Bloomberg is an a-hole. He is your old-fashioned billionaire calling for a "flat tax" to make everyone equal - wrong on that issue, too, just like this one.

I don't think a flat tax makes anyone equal, Dannie. It just makes people feel like they are being treated more fairly. It would end the special deals some people, people like you, get when it comes to taxation. What could be wrong with that? All these special hand outs for special people under special circumstances who have earned and deserve and are entitled to special treatment has left many feeling less special than others. Everyone wants to feel special, Dan. But I can certainly understand why some don't want to change anything at all. They be the special ones.
