Dog Days.....

Dog bites happen...we all know that...But a setting as crowded as the Farmer's Market in downtown Watertown is hardly the place for a pooch...
Kids, adults, young and old all come together and jockey for position on the crowded sidewalks and this past Wednesday an American Bulldog was provoked into biting a youngster badly...
The best bet is to leave your dog at home unless it has a muzzle or is so small not to cause a problem.

No, that's a setting where people like to show off their dogs and be cool and have everybody fawn all over poochie. It's an ego thing. Never mind that the dog has nothing to drink and is out of its element with all the crowd around. People don't think of the dog. It's all about them. Why do you think people own pit bulls in the first place?

Anyone who has been to the Farmers Market had to have seen this ticking time bomb. I know I did!
How much do you figure this will cost the city?

I have said time and time again that the farmers market is NOT a place to bring yourpet. Too many people, too much action, NO RULES. Lots of people take their children their, and often in groups. I hope more people push the issue and prohibit pets during the market.

Does the Jefferson County Dog Jail still take dogs there????? I agree dont touch someone else's dog. In Tort Law the first bite is always FREE.

Your average dog can put a real hurting on a person. But these Pit Bulls...er I mean American Bulldogs are bread to have a bigger harder mutilating bite. Only a jerk would own a dog like that. A good bread of dog would just nip or cause a few stitches instead of tearing a persons face. I would be in favor of prison time for an owner who had this happen. Maybe then they will stick to tattoos to be cool and forget about tuff dogs to be cool.

Why wasn't that dog home guarding the drugs and watching the kids like he was supposed to be?
